From DDR to DDR5: What is the difference between generations of RAM and VRAM?Let's find out why DDR5 is better than DDR4 and earlier generations, and GDDR6 - its predecessors

How to choose RAM?Tips for choosing the optimal RAM parameters that will ensure stable operation and PC performance
Model overview based on user reviews
The Patriot Memory Viper 4 Blackout DDR4 2x8Gb is generally well-received for its affordable price and overclocking capabilities. Users appreciate its quality and compact design, with many achieving stable performance at 3600 MHz and even higher frequencies through manual adjustments. However, some users report issues with the XMP profiles not starting as expected, requiring manual configuration for optimal performance. There are also isolated reports of defective units, indicating a potential "hit-or-miss" experience. Overall, it is considered a high-quality memory option with good overclocking potential, especially for those willing to manually tweak settings.

I took a set of 2x8 3600 MHz, didn’t do anything, set xmr and she herself took her honest 3600 with timings 17-19-19-39, 3100 is enough for me for ryzen price-quality, holds 3600 in a stress test, VIPER GAMING STICKER Looks like a comb ![]() |
Finally, the DDR4-4000 Patriot Viper Blackout 4 PVB416G400C9K memory kit arrived and installed without any problems using the XMP profile at a frequency of 4000 MHz and timings of 19, 19, 19, 39. It successfully passed all stress tests, demonstrating high speeds and operational stability. It easily fit under the be quiet! DARK ROCK PRO 4 cooler without removing it, as the height of the modules is only 42.6 mm. A major plus is the use of Samsung B-die chips. For those who don't want to bother with overclocking, it is an optimal option. For those who want to overclock the memory, it has good overclocking potential. It features massive heatsinks to ensure cooling. The sleek black appearance gives the kit a solid look. Overall, I highly recommend it to everyone for purchase. efficient cooling; high frequency; relatively compact radiator dimensions; good overclocking potential; limited lifetime warranty; pleasant strict design; use of Samsung B-die chips. I bought the option with XMP 3600 MHz and timings 17-19-19-39. Tested XMP and manual overclocking. Based on the stated performance, it started up immediately, with the Ryzen 5 5600x processor and the motherboard. It calmly takes 4000, as does the 3600 with lower timings (CL15). But, of course, not all options are suitable (performance decreases). So I got these optimal settings: 3600 MHz, 16-18-18-36. In general, the standard XMP profile settings are close to optimal, you can set them safely and not bother. Quality, overclockability, optimal XMP, fairly low profile of the bars. No ![]() |
