Modern radios and table clocks have long gone beyond the simplest devices for displaying time in terms of their capabilities - among them there are also multifunctional models with an abundance of additional features. However, classic watches have not gone away either - moreover, some of them have a very rich design (which often accounts for most of the cost) and are intended more for the role of a status item, and not for practical use.
The most noticeable criterion by which table clocks are divided is the type of dial. Most often there are either digital scales based on LCD screens, or classic arrows. It should be borne in mind here that the first option is better suited for implementing various additional features (delaying the alarm clock, calendars, changing the time format); numbers are also easier to perceive by children who are just learning to tell the time. Otherwise, the choice depends on your personal preferences.
A specific type of dial is a flip dial, on which a mechanical system is responsible for changing the numbers. Being outwardly closer to a digital clock, in terms of additional functionality, such models are similar to analog clocks. Hourglass table clocks are also produced - they measure certain periods of time, and do not display the current time, and are often fashion models.
All watches, in addition to hourglasses, are equipped with one of two types of movement - mechanical or quartz; at the same time, both options are available for arrow models, while digital models use only the latter. In general, "quartz" is considered more advanced than mechanics - in particular, due to its high accuracy; and today, mechanical watches are more of a tribute to tradition than practical devices (although the fact that they do not require batteries may come in handy in some situations).
Separately, touch on the capabilities of the alarm clock. Many people have situations when they can’t immediately get up on a signal, but they also can’t fall asleep; for such cases, the alarm snooze function is useful, which allows you to postpone the signal for several minutes. And for those who have difficulty getting up regularly, original devices are produced where, to turn off the alarm clock, you need to hit a target, solve a mathematical problem, or even catch a clock jumping around the room - after such activity you won’t want to sleep.
And from the additional features that desktop clocks can be equipped with, you can recall, for example, a projector that displays data from the dial on the ceiling or wall, or world time to show time in different time zones.
