How was it before? I wanted to buy a gaming laptop instead of a computer. To wear it anywhere, play lying down somewhere by the pool and stuff like that. But no, you had to carry the sled all the time — powerful iron had to be stuffed into a giant case, all this stuff was heated, and you also had to throw a hefty power supply into a bag for a 4-kilogram laptop. Asus has tried to solve this problem with the ROG Zephyrus series.

Asus introduced the first ROG Zephyrus model back in 2017 at Computex. At that time, it was the thinnest 15-inch gaming laptop in the world — even next to the compact MacBook Pro ROG Zephyrus impressed with its diminutiveness. In general, comparisons with Apple laptops are not without reason, since most laptops in this series have a strict, sometimes slightly extravagant design, which is more typical of premium ultrabooks than gaming laptops that sparkle like a casino in Las Vegas. However, there are also more unusual options, like the Zephyrus Duo 15 GX550LXS, in which the ROG ScreenPad Plus auxiliary display is mounted above the keyboard, a touchpad is used instead of a digital NUM-block, and the central processor is cooled by liquid metal.

Just as importantly, such a thin body hides the most powerful hardware that can be squeezed into a laptop case. The top ROG Zephyrus configuration includes a Core i7 caliber processor, an RTX 2070 graphics card, at least 16GB of RAM, a racing NVMe SSD, plus all the latest technology like a Wi-Fi 6 receiver, USB-C with fast charging, or the latest Thunderbolt ports. Once again — a massive RTX 2070 in a case thinner than 2 centimeters! When will you see this again? So Asus goes to all sorts of tricks to keep laptops cool, like extra air intakes under the keyboard or an ErgoLift-style hinge that lifts the top half of the laptop off the table to make room for hot air to blow out.

The status of the ROG Zephyrus is also evident in everything else, from the design of the packaging to the bundle. In most cases, in the box with a laptop, you will find little things like a branded gaming mouse, a pad, or a carrying case. The price tag for the average model is appropriate — from two to four thousand dollars. Even for the segment of gaming solutions, this is a very decent price; not everyone can afford such a laptop.
