Gel batteries for UPS
GEL (filled with gel)
— lead-acid batteries using a gel electrolyte. In the case of UPS, this option is very specific and rare. This is due to the fact that GEL batteries are best suited for cyclic operation — that is, when the battery needs to feed the load for a long time, with discharge almost to zero, then charge and again provide long-term autonomous power. But for the buffer mode in which most UPSs operate (to stand ready for a long time in order to briefly support power supply in the event of a failure), this technology is not suitable for a number of reasons. Therefore, it makes sense to purchase such batteries only in those cases when the “uninterruptible” has to be turned on almost daily — for example, for unstable networks with constant and long power outages.Show
