LG shares the markings of OLED TVs and TVs with conventional matrices, let's start with the latter.

1. The first thing we see in the model name is the diagonal of the TV in inches.

2. The diagonal is followed by the type of screen matrix installed on the model ("S" — Super UHD, Nano Cell matrix, "U" — UHD matrix, "L" — LED matrix, "E" — OLED until 2016).

3. Next comes the year of model development ("N" — 2020, "M" — 2019, "K" — 2018, "J" — 2017, "H" — 2016, "F" and "G" — 2015, "B" and "C" — 2014, "N" and "A" — 2013).

4. After a year of model development, there is a series of televisions. The series are presented quite widely and, depending on the year of release, combine certain technologies. The series are tied to the type of matrix installed on a specific model and are raised with a steeper filling. As an example, in low-cost models, the series will be the sixth, in models with a UHD matrix 7, in TVs with Nano Cell matrices 8 or 9, etc.

5. Following the designation of the series, there is a figure that directly characterizes the model of the device in the series with certain openings and technical characteristics.

6. The marking following after means a change in the design of the model. Within the model, the manufacturer can change the type of stand, the thickness of the frame or the colour of the device. It is this information that this designation carries.

7. Starting from 2018, the last 3 letters indicate the following parameters: the market for which the model was created ("P" is a model for all countries, "W" is a model for the Korean market, "S" is the UK and Singapore, "T" is the USA), the type of tuners installed on the TV ("L" — DVB-T/T2/T2HD/C/S/S2, "U" — ATSC, Clear QAM, "N" — ATSC 3.0, ATSC 1.0), and modification of the model (currently only marking "A").

7.1 For models of 2018 and older, after the modification of the model, the digital tuner type was marked "on board" of the device ("T" — DVB-T, "C" — DVB-C, "S" — DVB-S2/T/C, "V" — DVB-S2/T2/C, "0" — DVB-T/C).

Consider an example of labeling a TV LG 55UM7660 55 "

55 — the diagonal of the device is 55", U — matrix of the UHD TV, M — the year of development of the model is 2019, 7 — the seventh series, 6 — the sixth model in the series, 60 — distinctive design features, P — model for all countries, L — DVB—T/T2/T2HD/C tuners are installed/S/S2, A — modification of the model.

It is also worth noting that starting in 2020 LG introduces a new type of labeling of Nano Cell TVs, without canceling the labeling of SN models. Perhaps this will change in the near future, but for now the new markings of Nano Cell models look like this:

1. The diagonal of the TV in inches.

2. The abbreviation NANO, respectively Nano Cell, for greater recognition and quick identification of NanoCell TVs.

3. Next comes a series of televisions.

4. The model in the series.

5. The first of the last three designations is the type of tuner and regional standards.

6. Next comes the year of release ("N" — 2020).

7. Closes the marking with the designation of the modification of the model.

As for the labeling of OLED TVs, it has changed slightly in 2018. Now the model name will look like this:

1. Immediately we see the letters "OLED" — this means that the TV model has a matrix based on organic LEDs (OLED technology — Organic Light Emitting Diode).

2. This is followed by the diagonal of the TV in inches.

3. Behind the diagonal there is a letter indicating the model of the OLED TV. It combines both technical equipment, technology support, and the appearance, design of the device (since 2018, a separate letter is responsible for the design, paragraph 7.).

4. The next digit, and in 2020 the letter is the year of model release ("6" — 2016, "7" — 2017, "8" — 2018, "9" — 2019, " X" — 2020 ).

5.1. After the year of release there is a letter that since 2018 indicates the region of sale of the model ("P" — Europe, USA, "W" — Korea).

5.2. Until 2018, this figure indicated the type of tuner ("V" and "J" — DVB-T2/C/S2, "P" — ATSC, ISDB, "D" — DVB-T/T2/C/S/S2, "T" — DVB-T2).

This is where the labeling of 2016-2017 OLED TVs ended, the following markings apply only to 2018 models.

6. Behind the region of sale will be the type of tuner ("U" — ATSC, Clear QAM, "L" — DVB-T/T2/T2HD/C/S/S2, "N" — ATSC 3.0, ATSC 1.0).

7. The last letter denotes the design of the TV (as in conventional TVs, one model can be produced with some design changes).

Consider an example: TV LG OLED65E8 65 "

OLED TV with a matrix based on organic LEDs, 65 — the diagonal of the device is 65", E — TV model, 8 — model year — 2018, P — TV is released for the European and American markets, U — tuner type — ATSC, Clear QAM, A — device design.
