In active mode, the Howard Leight Impact Sport Helmet Mount headphones pick up ambient sounds using directional microphones and amplify the signal so that the user can freely communicate with other group members, hear the sounds of footsteps and navigate the environment.

The volume can be adjusted using the wheel located on the left earcup. Next to it is an AUX input under a 3.5 mm jack, through which you can connect a radio station, player or other device to the headphones. One set of power supplies (two AAA batteries are included) provides the headphones with about 350 hours of operation. To save battery power, the device automatically turns off after 4 hours.
