A Zeiss lens with a universal set of 24-105mm equivalent focal lengths and the same aperture of f/4 throughout the entire zoom range. Designed for photo and video shooting on cropped Sony mirrorless cameras with an APS-C image sensor. The most widespread among them were the cameras of the “six thousandth” Alpha product line. The lens is built according to the proprietary "Zeiss" optical scheme Vario-Tessar.

The linear motorized focus drive is responsible for the quick and tenacious autofocusing of the lens. "Universal" is compatible with 55 mm filters. The lens weighs only a little more than 300 g.
