Stanley SRR1200 price graph

A good machine for work and creativity.
    10 August 2021
I purchased the STANLEY SRR1200-RU milling cutter quite recently and have never used such a tool before, so I cannot compare it with any other, but I will share my impression of this specimen. Choosing the STANLEY brand was not really a choice because I have a lot of DeWalt and STANLEY brand tools in my arsenal and I like the quality of the products. Initially, the use of this tool was intended for chamfering during construction from timber, but when I saw the abundance of cutters in the store (unfortunately The router kit does not include cutters), I realized that it would be wrong to use it only for these purposes. Now a little about the milling cutter: the set includes three collets 6mm, 6.35mm and 8mm and a fairly powerful stop that is easily adjusted, a convenient mechanism for adjusting the milling depth (can be adjusted with millimeter precision), speed adjustment and the start button are located on different handles and easy to use, the location of the protective glass allows you to get as close as possible to the router to perform precise work. The only thing that seemed not very convenient to me was changing the cutters; on the one hand, the protective screen prevents this task from being easily accomplished, and on the other hand, there is a connector for connecting a vacuum cleaner. Perhaps if the protective screen was on a hinge and could be moved to the side, it would be more comfortable and faster, but nevertheless replacing the cutter is not difficult. I liked working with this router and the impressions from it were positive; working with such a tool is easy and pleasant.
    Powerful, comfortable, not noisy
it’s not very convenient to change cutters and there are no cutters included.

Of course! The translation is: It may turn out to be quite different from what you expected.

I scoured the internet for routers. Based on reviews: convenient, 6 bits included, lasted a long time. Ordered this model on Beru. The package contents weren't described, but I saw in all the reviews that the bits were included. Didn't notice from the tablet that it's different on the outside as well - the color is the same. As a result, a completely different unit arrived without bits and with a horrible smell of burnt plastic or brushes. Additionally, the manual clearly states that it is not suitable for stationary work (in an inverted position, mounted under a table for a router). Its mechanisms are simply exposed, meaning that if you turn it over, the shavings will just fall into the mechanism. I didn't return it because it's too much hassle. There's no warranty. Conclusion: pay closer attention when choosing this router; there are 2 types with the same name and make sure to verify the package contents!!! There are no reviews for this model, if there were any like mine - I wouldn't have bought it, at least because of the lack of bits and inability for stationary work. Disappointment.
3 collets included, fairly quiet, beautiful color.
There are no phrases included, cannot be used stationary, plastic and metal look fragile, primitive package contents, smell of burnt plastic.

It gets the job done. I recommend.

I bought this router mainly for working on a table, but it can also be used in manual mode. The router does an excellent job here and there, I’m happy with its work. There is no runout in the collet, everything can be done neatly. The power is enough to work with oak, ash, pine and plywood; in general, it works with any wood and its derivatives without problems. I recommend purchasing it.
There are practically no backlashes in comparison with other milling cutters of the same price category.

Fraser-average: everything is good, but it can be better

In terms of motor power, the Stanley SRR1200 is on the lower end of the middle class. However, a value of 1200 W is enough to work with hard and soft woods, as well as some types of plastic and even (with certain reservations) aluminium blanks. Although routers of this power are more often used for processing edges, this model can also cope with sampling grooves (if they are made in several passes, gradually increasing the depth). It is not too light (4 kg), but it is not among the "heavyweights". A tool with such dimensions and weight is convenient to use in order to make shallow recesses and patterns on furniture panels.

    Flexibility in settings

The adjustments and settings of the router allow you to adapt the tool for all kinds of tasks that you might encounter in a small woodworking workshop. This is also facilitated by electronic "assistants", such as soft start and speed control, which help to avoid errors when processing materials that require accuracy and accuracy. The router comes with a guide rail and three collet chucks. They allow you to use a variety of cutters with shank diameters of 6, 6.35 and 8 mm, selecting equipment for specific tasks (but the cutters themselves are not included in the kit, they need to be purchased separately).

    Tool for beginners and amateurs

The Stanley SRR1200 router cannot be called very cheap (there are many low-cost models that cost one and a half to two times less). But it does not apply to expensive models either. This is a good entry-level tool for those who want a solid router with slightly better than average performance.

This model has a twin brother — the Black & Decker KW1200E milling cutter. They have a completely identical design, but a slight difference in characteristics (Black & Decker does not have a soft start, but the size of the hole in the sole allows the use of larger diameter cutters).
