VR guide: the best games, choosing a VR system and PC for itA complete guide to immersing yourself in the world of virtual reality: from choosing equipment to top games

HTC Vive price graph

    Race leader

The HTC Vive is currently the most feature-packed yet expensive VR headset on the market. Its hardware was developed by the eminent smartphone manufacturer HTC, and the software was developed by Valve, the creator of the Steam gaming service. Thanks to this, any game from the Steam catalog, of which there are already more than 10K (and in general any PC game), can be played in virtual reality.

    Gaming PC

To start the game, the helmet must first be connected to a computer, and a sufficiently powerful one - at least a four-thread processor and a graphics card of the GeForce GTX 1050 or Radeon RX 460 level. Data exchange is carried out via HDMI and a USB cable.

    omnivorous beast

But note that only a limited number of games fully support VR technologies (for example, the ability to look around while rotating your own head) - mostly simple indie projects. The rest are simply launched on the screen of a huge virtual TV, which, however, also looks cool.

    Gentleman's set

Completed with HTC Vive everything you need to immerse yourself in virtual reality. Namely: the helmet itself, two wall cameras for tracking the player's position in space and two controllers for reading hand movements. Headphones are not supplied, but this is rather a plus, as it allows you to connect your own comfortable ones.

    Playroom

The main disadvantage of Vive is the need for a large gaming space in the room (at least 2.5x2.5 m excluding furniture). This is what prevents HTC's creation from being recommended to absolutely everyone and forces residents of city apartments to look towards other VR helmets.
