The Acer Aspire 3 A315-21G 40SM 17-inch low-cost laptop is equipped with a sixth generation dual-core Core i3 processor with an operating frequency of 2 GHz. On paper, the processor, although not the most powerful, but thanks to the 14 nm process and 3 MB of cache memory, it shows decent performance and practically does not lag behind the previous generation quad-core processors.

The amount of RAM is 4 GB, it can be increased up to 16 GB. Moreover, a new bar can be added to the old one, since the model has two RAM slots. The hard disk capacity is 500 GB. There is no separate graphics card — it makes little sense to install it with a dual-core processor. And with toys of the past type Half-Life 2 or Doom 3, the integrated Intel HD 520 video chip will do just fine.

Rugged, reliable housing

Although the model is part of Acer's Travel Mate line, it's quite difficult to write it down as a travel companion. The laptop weighs 3 kg with dimensions of 423x281.9x31.7 mm. That is, it is both thicker and heavier than almost any modern laptop with a screen size of 17".

Such a mass is explained by the fact that its body is made of thick and durable plastic. It looks angular, but assembled in good conscience: no backlashes were noticed, the lid and base bend only if you press hard on them.

In terms of communication, we see a classic picture: one HDMI port, a pair of USB 2.0 class, two USB 3.0 ports, a card reader and a webcam with HD resolution support instead of the standard 640x420 soap. If you often use video calls, then the interlocutors will definitely thank you for it. There is also a DVD drive here. We are not sure that someone in 2018 will need it, but suddenly.

Right out of the box, the laptop runs on the Linux operating system, which is much less demanding on resources than Windows 10, but not for everyone because of the unusual set of programs and interface.
