Which is better: wet or dry heating element in a water heater?Learning the design features, pros and cons of "wet" and "dry" heating elements in water heaters

Detailed FAQ on storage water heatersWe answer the most common questions regarding the installation and operation of storage water heaters

I live in my (separate) house and always solved the issue of hot water on my own. The previous storage type water heater failed after working for five years, and since the malfunction concerned the violation of the integrity of the tank due to metal corrosion, there was no point in repairing it. I decided to buy a new boiler with a flow one, because it is not always convenient to wait for hot water from the storage tank. Always having hot water "on demand" is very convenient, to say the least. You can use switches to change the power of the heater. There are three options: 3 kW, 4 kW, 7 kW. All of this, of course, is great, but a power of 3 or 4 kW is absolutely insufficient for heating running water. Even at 7 kW, the hot water flow is not particularly impressive. It is easy to install. In my case, it was added as a cut-in on the hot water supply pipe. Plastic fittings for water inlet / outlet were not invented by the smartest person. I understand that this is done for electrical safety, but tightening metal nuts on plastic threads is another attraction. I had to lay a separate cable of increased cross-section for power supply. The current consumed by the water heater can reach 35 amperes, and this is no longer a joke. An ordinary wire with a cross section of 2 square millimeters cannot hold such a current for a long time. Well, the regulation of water temperature by pressure is also a hemorrhoid process. Especially in winter when the water is very cold. |
