Any modern smartphone, tablet or laptop can be used as an audio source, but these devices must support the aptX or aptX HD standards to get the best sound quality. Pairing with the source is performed using the energy-efficient bluetooth 4.2 protocol, which operates within a radius of up to 10 m. This procedure can be simplified as much as possible thanks to the support of NFC technology. There is no wired analogue connection, but the headphones can receive a digital signal via a USB cable.
