High-quality closed-back over-ear monitor headphones. This model is primarily designed for sound quality enthusiasts and professional use. However, this does not mean that special equipment or expensive players are required for their operation. The low internal impedance of this model allows it to be used with a smartphone, but of course, for quality sound the source gadget should have a good output stage.
The headband is foldable plastic, reinforced with a metal plate. The ear cups can fold inward and rotate around the vertical axis, so the Audio-Technica ATH-M50x headphones can also be used for DJ purposes. The ear cushions are large and soft, like the headband, they are covered with high-quality synthetic leather. The clamping to the head is moderate, just enough for good sound isolation.
The sound quality depends on the source signal. When using a smartphone with a good audio output, the sound is excellent, but to reveal all the advantages of this model, and to achieve a good stereo image and depth of field, it is advisable to use a DAC with an additional amplifier. The frequency range claimed by the manufacturer is from 15 Hz to 28 kHz, which more than covers the range of human hearing.

I had a lot of headphones: Koss (not supported), Grado (for instrumentals - TOP), Meizu (for a non-core company - super), Djpro (required bass - here) and with different sound speakers (cheap immersive sound, obviously evoked sounds , DACs, DACs + boosters, flagship smartphones), aka M50X - this is simply the quintessence of honest sound. 10/10 If you want to hear sound the way the creator intended, such as in techno, trance, rock, etc., this is the place for you. There are no alternatives for this price. You can buy many great models with a wider soundstage, more powerful bass, and "clearer" sound, but nothing will play as honestly and powerfully as this, probably. Pffff, want an honest review? I liked these more than the DT 770. Why? Because this is just what the doctor ordered for audio engineers XD. Precise and detailed sound, almost flat frequency response, controlled, tight bass. These aren't for just listening to music. This dude is for heavier tasks XD. Everything without clicking and sibilance. But the stereo panorama though - it's just crap. So narrow... so tiny... XD. But that's not a drawback, it's to prevent sound leakage, and it won't interfere with work. In short, the M50x provide a precise and detailed sound across the entire frequency range, with balanced bass, clear mids, and crisp highs. So, what to choose, DT 770 or AT 50x? If you're into audio editing, AT is at your service. Where DT has that V-shaped frequency response and is more enjoyable for listening to music, poor listeners here will max out the equalizer XD. I think that they are not for listening to music, but for mixing DJ tracking. You won’t listen for a long time, the sound has no velvet at all. Yes, clearly, but the frequency response is flat, music lovers will not appreciate it, audiophiles will try to tune it. To each his own. The detail is of course excellent, they sit comfortably, the quality. The bass is not deep, they play on the [censored] DX50, but there is no atmosphere of balance and that softness that everyone dreams of, you always try to achieve detunings in the equalizer. "Killers" Beats
The Audio-Technica ATH-M50x is a slightly improved version of the impressive ATH-M50, which has been considered one of the best headphones in the sub-$200 price range. Initially, they were positioned as inexpensive monitor headphones, but over time they became famous as the "killers" of the Beats. Fortunately, they sounded more interesting in all respects, but were cheaper.
For music lovers and home producers
This model is primarily intended for connoisseurs of high-quality sound and professional use. They have a very precise sound balance, stereo sound, as for a closed type of headphones, is incredibly voluminous, and the dynamics are beyond praise. They can only be reproached for the low detailing of the upper frequencies. The same DT 990 Pro look more interesting in this regard, although according to the passport they do not have such a wide frequency range. But thanks to the low internal resistance of the ATH-M50x, no special equipment or expensive players are needed. An impedance of 38 ohms allows them to be well pumped even by a mid-range smartphone with a simple DAC. Although, to swing them to the full, a DAC with an additional amplifier is still useful.
Easy to fold
The ATH-M50x are solidly built and built to last for years to come. The thick, soft ear cushions rotate in two directions, making the headphones easy to assemble and store in a case. When disassembled, they sit extremely comfortably on the head, and thanks to soft velor ear cushions, the ears get less tired during the heat. Interestingly, the kit comes with 3 different cables (one twisted, two straight) for different usage scenarios. The only pity is that a simple headset was not attached to one of the direct cables. Considering that many will buy them in pair with a smartphone, such a trifle would not be superfluous.
