Welding semi-automatic, made with an emphasis on reliability

While the Aurora OVERMAN 165 has two modes of operation (MMA and MIG/MAG), the manual arc welding feature should only be considered as a "bonus". The fact is that the device does not have a very large maximum welding current (it will not work with electrodes with a diameter of more than 3 mm), there are no electronic “helpers” (like a hot start and protection against sticking), and even a cable with an electrode holder is not included in the kit. But 160 A, which looks unconvincing by MMA standards, is enough for welding with ordinary and flux-cored wires up to 1 mm in diameter — that is, for almost any job for which a semi-automatic is bought.

Consider the device in detail

This model of welding equipment is positioned as a professional one on the grounds that it is very reliable and durable. Its electronic modules use high-quality Toshiba and Fuji transistors. The manufacturer did not save on either the power part (the device withstands power surges and drawdowns up to 140 V), or on components (all wires, cables and hoses are 3 m long, and the quality of the burner, nozzles and terminals does not cause the slightest criticism). The device even has a 36-volt connector for connecting a gas reducer heater. Only class F insulation (slightly outdated by today's standards) and a low turn-on frequency (30% at 40 °C) at maximum current raise doubts. But if you weld only with wire, and not with electrodes, then you can pay less attention to these nuances, since when welding MIG / MAG, work is usually carried out at low currents, and the equipment is not subjected to significant loads.

Good choice for car workshop

The semi-automatic inverter lends itself perfectly to settings and adjustments depending on the thickness of the metal and its sensitivity to heat, the type of electrodes and wire, the skills of the welder and other factors. The controls and buttons on the front panel allow you to change the welding voltage, current and inductance, adjust the wire feed speed and change the polarity. A table with the optimal (averaged) ratio of all possible parameters is printed directly on the front panel under the “twists”, so even a beginner can immediately start working without looking into reference books and textbooks.

Aurora machines, including this model, are great for professionals who weld metal every day. Semi-automatic machines of this brand are perfect for welding thin metal, such as car body panels, and for work that requires accuracy and precision in settings.
