I am describing the disadvantages because they are the most difficult to find among the rave reviews and usually they can only be described after long-term use of the device. 4K@120Hz, games on PS5 and XBOX fly! The picture is magnificent in every sense. The sound is impressive for a TV with a thickness of 19mm. The built-in app media player paired with torrents and USB3.2/Type-C SSD - you can watch anything! The menu for software updates that appears when starting the TV is periodically annoying. It disappears on its own if you don't press anything for about a minute. The main menu is adapted to the region, and the content changes with each entry/transition. Recommended movies and other content are available. The menu lags when loading new content but is okay afterwards. The remote control mode with a cursor is a very questionable thing. I couldn't find the option to disable the auto-switch to cursor mode (it turns on automatically if you accidentally shake the remote). The central button (wheel) is unfortunately designed. Learn from grandmothers - a plastic bag with tape is your friend! (Or buy several remotes in advance before they disappear from open sale). The photo viewer from a flash drive/SSD is terrible. For this purpose, it’s better to buy an Apple TV and view photos from iCloud or another external device. There's no stand or legs included for placing it on a console/other horizontal surface. There are few audio outputs. To build a modern home theater with 5.1/7.1 sound and more advanced systems, you’ll have to buy a whole set of equipment and run the sound through HDMI (and you'll encounter the fact that not all receivers can fully process it). ![]() |
A magnificent OLED TV with bright, rich, and smooth images, it's simply impossible to look away! I must specifically mention the smoothness of the image. I don't understand what people are talking about when they say it's not there?! I think it's some kind of fabrication and provocation from competitors. Thanks to the 120 Hz, the picture is very smooth with no jitters or stutters, even during dynamic scenes. I downloaded several movies ranging from 1080p to 4k - everything is smooth and wonderful. It's possible that there are compressed 4k movies, in which case they will stutter everywhere, so use proper files. I specifically chose a TV that is NOT on Android TV and I am very happy with my choice, WebOS is simply excellent. Before this, I used a fairly expensive Sony 8 series, LED, "55, 4k TV for a long time. I thought it would take a long time to get used to LG and WebOS, but it turned out to be much more pleasant and convenient. Bright, vivid picture, finally the black color is truly black and without glare. Very convenient, fast and stable WebOS, everything runs smoothly, all necessary settings are available without excess. Plays all possible video and audio formats, including E-AC3. Very convenient full-function remote control, it's also Bluetooth, there is an on-screen pointer like a mouse, even a wheel for scrolling programs, etc. NO disadvantages, only delights! ![]() |
I completely agree with Mark, there is no smoothness of movement in this TV at all, the speed control adds a little and it hurts the eye in dynamic scenes. The color is just bomb, but for fans of the film it’s just rock bottom. after the plasma I wanted to throw my eyes away Beautiful picture When watching a movie, there are visible gaps when moving. It’s clearly visible when I watched a movie on plasma an hour ago. ![]() |
Even cooler OLED
One of LG's 2021 flagship TVs has received some significant updates over its predecessors and younger versions. First of all, we are talking about a more performant α 9 Gen 4 processor and a modified OLED matrix called evo. It has a higher peak brightness level, which, together with the usual wide colour gamut, will provide an even more expressive picture when viewing HDR content (Dolby Vision is supported). In this aspect, the model outperforms, for example, the OLED77C1.
Other advantages of self-illuminating pixels are preserved. The LG OLED77G1 has near-perfect blacks thanks to its high contrast values. Also at the height of uniformity of other colours and shades. The wide viewing angles of the 77-inch screen deserve special mention, so the model will delight every viewer when viewed collectively.
Well, you should not forget about the thin body, as an additional bonus of OLED TVs.
Shall we play?
Gaming potential LG OLED77G1 deserves the most flattering ratings. The 120Hz refresh rate screen is complemented by all the leading sync technologies, including AMD FreeSync and G-Sync, as well as VRR. A smooth video sequence without blurs and other artifacts is provided when connecting both set-top boxes and PCs with different video cards.
Thanks to the HDMI 2.1 ports, the bandwidth reaches 4K @ 120Hz + HDR, and the game mode is turned on automatically. It will have low input lag (about 5.5ms) and access to various gaming settings (Game Optimizer).
Other pluses
The role of Smart TV is traditionally assigned to the proprietary webOS platform. Version 6.0 is used here with an updated interface (the menu is full screen, and not in the form of a bottom plate). The Magic Remote has also changed a bit. But this is still the same air gun that allows you to control not only buttons or voice, but also gestures (move the cursor over objects, like a mouse).
Acoustics with four speakers and a subwoofer with a total power of 60 watts are responsible for a decent sound level out of the box. Among the bonuses, we highlight AirPlay 2 and support for popular voice assistants.
LG OLED77G1 is probably the best 4K TV for watching any kind of content and games.
