I've been using the speakers for a long time; they're paired with a Denon PMA-777 amplifier. I made some personal modifications, like lining the speaker baskets with 4mm vibration damping material, adding batting inside the cabinets, and replacing the wires. The sound improved even more—bass became deeper, and the sound more cohesive. I listened to the Yamaha NS-777, and they sound like a bucket, no bass and the mids are too loud. The Magnat speakers are a step above, and the price is pleasantly lower. Yamaha's price is only for the piano lacquer finish. Magnat's drivers are good, handle high power, and have a good suspension travel. Sound quality, design, high power and sensitivity, sturdy well-damped enclosure (very heavy!), spikes included. Low price. No Bi-wiring and magnetic shielding, rear placement of bass reflex ports (requires moving away from the wall).  Pavel: use Magnat Monitor Supreme 2002 less than month |
I decided to buy these speakers, I chose between the 150ac jib and the Radio Engineering s300. Definitely, Cleaver is not a competitor to them, and radio engineering also disappeared after listening. Played from Nad 236bee amplifier. I love the sound when there is a lot of bass, and there is plenty of it. The jbl subwoofer with a 10 inch speaker had to be hidden in a closet, it is not needed here. Speakers super price, sound power. bass. It could have been more in the middle. |
