At the heart of the SteelSeries Rival 100 case is plastic with a Soft-Touch work surface. The optical sensor is represented by a PixArt SDNS-3059-SS matrix, the maximum resolution of the sensor is at around 4000 dpi, but the current resolution level can be changed. The following sensor modes are available: 250/500/1000/1250/1500/1750/2000/4000 dpi. The USB bus polling rate can be: 125/250/500/1000 Hz, depending on user preferences. The manipulator received 6 buttons and 1 scroll wheel. Built-in RGB lighting is provided, while it is divided into several zones: a scroll wheel and a logo. Illumination zones w...ork synchronously. The weight of the mouse is 90 g, thanks to which the manipulator feels almost weightless. The separation height of the optical sensor is 3 mm. The sensor will work stably on both matte and glossy surfaces. The jerk speed at which the sensor works adequately is about 3 m/s. The base of the manipulator is equipped with 3 Teflon feet. excellent initial/budget option for games like cs go, warzone, rainbow, etc.

to be honest, I'm quite surprised by the criticism of the mouse for "stiff clicks."
    1) You need to understand where a click requires less effort and where more (a little behind the wheel - 65 g, at the wheel - 110 g, behind the wheel - 150 g, if I'm not mistaken, of course) the principle should be clear.
    2) Before purchasing, you should watch reviews, look at alternative options, and understand what suits you more, based on your needs. If you don't like the click, buy the Logitech 102 G, the situation is somewhat better there.

I haven't had any problems in 2 years of use. None. And this is considering that I'm a user who might tap the mouse against the table.

excellent mouse for me, the best in its price
    31 March 2018
excellent mouse, the best for the money, after a few months and a couple of throws, nothing is broken and works properly, available in different colors (black, yellow, white, there is even a Doter modification, but I have the usual matte black). I was choosing between this one, Disader, Logitech G102 and many other options from Chinese companies, but I took this one because the others didn’t fit the shape, the design is symmetrical, but the side keys are only on the left (for me it’s a plus, but for others it’s different)
price, brand (for some this is important, but I was infuriated by the Chinese mouse and bought this one much better), the assembly is at the highest level, the materials are ideal (matte plastic on top, ribbed plastic on the side), there is a backlight that can be adjusted through the steelseries engine, it glows logo and wheel
dpi is adjusted through the ss engine and there are only values that are multiples of 250 (250, 500, 750, etc.), at first it was not convenient for me to play because I was used to 800, but then I got used to it, well, if this can be considered a disadvantage, but the wire is too soft , not somehow unreliable, but simply flexible and without braid

    severely flawed model

you can play for a month
within 3 months I bought 2 mice. One with a laptop in an online store. After 3 months the left one broke. I bought a second one. And a month later its right one broke. This is terrible.

Mouse Danish company SteelSeries is available in different colours. For example, in addition to the classic all-black version, there are models with yellow and red sidewalls. The version in yellow tone has a scroll wheel, all buttons and wire in the same colour. There are also modifications with a white and golden "back" and a black base.

    Symmetric model

Rival 100 is made in a symmetrical form factor. Pleasant to the touch, a matte upper part (soft-touch coating) made of plastic is complemented by embossed sidewalls made of the same material. The mouse is conveniently fixed in a hand of various sizes, does not slip, but quickly gets dirty, which can be considered a minus.

The logo and scroll wheel are RGB backlit. The user in the SteelSeries Engine 3 proprietary software can adjust the brightness, colours in a wide range and various effects, but both glow zones are regulated only together.

    Proprietary Switches

The SteelSeries Rival 100 has 5 buttons (two main buttons, a pair of side buttons on the left and one for changing DPI above scrolling) and a wheel. For them, you can programme the necessary game commands (for shooters and strategies) or actions in various applications.

The main keys received branded SteelSeries switches. According to the claimed service life, they surpass the most popular Omron analogues (30 million clicks against 20). The buttons work softly, do not play, moderately noisy.

    Accurate sensor

The Rival 100 uses the entry-level PixArt 3059-SS sensor. This is a modified version of Avago ADNS-3050. Its physical resolution is 2000 DPI, but it is doubled in software. Positioning at high sensitivity values is slightly worse, but in the same shooters, usually, 500 or 1000 DPI is enough. In this case, an acceptable cursor movement speed is ensured (which is facilitated by the small weight of the mouse of 92 grams) and maximum accuracy.

The sensor performs well on various surfaces: the cursor does not break even on glossy tables. The only drawback is the lack of a fairly popular value of 750 DPI, while the adjustment step is 250 (immediately after 500, for some reason, 1000 DPI comes).

The SteelSeries Rival 100 is a hit in its price range. The mouse has been on the market for a long time and has earned the recognition of fans of computer games. But if you want a newer and faster model, you can take a closer look at the new 2018, which is the direct successor to the 100th version — Rival 110. It has a maximum sensor resolution of 7000 DPI.
