Everything about this keyboard is solidly built—the font on the keys, the backlit Cyrillic letters, the optical switches—it's all very cool, but there's one BUT: the software. Rog Armory is not just terrible; it's designed specifically to make you turn off the backlight forever and forget about it. If you try to program it on your own, it's better to stick to the preset options, trust me. And for ASUS motherboard owners, it's best to steer clear of these buttons. There's chaos with the presets; for example, you might program scripts and backlighting in the Rog ARMORY software that comes with the keyboard and save it to memory, but if your motherboard has ARMORY CRATE from ASUS installed, with "its" settings for the keyboard, every time you boot the computer, the keyboard settings will be overwritten by the default preset from ARMORY CRATE on the motherboard. All backlighting and macros will be wiped, and it doesn't matter if the options specify not to sync the keys with the motherboard. This raises the reasonable question: why not use the software that comes with the motherboard, since you can also set up the backlighting there? Of course, you can, but the animation is sluggish and choppy, and there is no ability to manage or create macros. Switches, design, symbol illumination, The included software and synchronization with the ASUS ecosystem is terrible. |
