Intel Core i3 Skylake i3-6098P BOX price graph

Model overview based on user reviews
The Intel Core i3 Skylake is a smart and efficient processor that offers good system performance with its 2 cores and 4 virtual cores, making it suitable for everyday tasks and moderate gaming. It pairs well with the Z170 chipset, allowing for overclocking up to 4500 MHz, which can outperform some AMD FX series processors. While the processor is not cheap for a budget solution, it provides a decent price/quality ratio and is ideal for building a computer from scratch. However, it lacks Turbo mode and has a locked multiplier, which might be a limitation for some users. The integrated Intel HD Graphics 530 makes a separate graphics card unnecessary for non-gaming tasks. Despite its age, it remains a reliable choice for budget home PCs, although newer models might be more suitable for heavy loads.

a worthwhile purchase, albeit an expensive enjoyment of modern technology.

well, there's a lot here, video has become even better, so from an office perspective, a graphics card is completely pointless right now, only for games, and only if they're new.
the overall system performance, has experience with the previous generation, very smart processor, 4 virtual cores, everything works very efficiently in conjunction with Windows 10
the price, of course, is to say the least, not cheap for quite a budget solution, although the Core i5 is pointless against this, essentially it does the same.

If you don't have a computer and don't know what to buy, this processor is the best solution (at least until the release of AMD ZEN). Get a motherboard with the Z170 chipset right away. When you want to upgrade, you can sell the i6100 and install an i5-6600k and a GTX1070 (RX480) graphics card, and put your feet up.
Paired with the Z170 chipset, it overclocks to 4500 MHz on the bus! It outperforms the entire FX lineup from AMD, even flamethrowers based on the 83xx series. Together with the GTX950(RX460), it allows you to play all the latest games almost on ultra settings. In an overclocked state, it matches the performance of the Core i5-6400, sometimes even surpasses it... (provided the i5-6400 is not overclocked)
The multiplier is locked. The video core is disabled when overclocking.. It's a small thing, but annoying )

A decent processor, rather weak at the time of 2020, after 4 years of use, the chip responsible for the first RAM slot burned out (the processor remained working, I’m writing a review from it), now I’m considering buying an I7-7700k because I don't want to buy a new board

    Cheap and cheerful

Until the release of AMD Zen, Intel Core i3 processors remain almost no alternative to low-cost quad-cores (albeit half of the cores are virtual) with the possibility of a subsequent upgrade to a more powerful chip (i5 or i7, including the upcoming 7000 series). If you are building a PC without a discrete graphics card, then the Core i3-6100 with a powerful integrated HD 530 graphics accelerator is the best option. But if you still buy a separate graphics card, then it is wiser to choose the cheaper Core i3-6098P.

    Temporary replacement

Unlike previous Intel processors with the “P” suffix, which were completely devoid of integrated graphics, the new Core i3-6098P still has it, albeit a low-power HD 510 (borrowed from Pentium and Celeron, twice as weak as the HD 530). This allows you to do without a discrete graphics card for a short time, for example, in the event of a breakdown and subsequent warranty repair.

    Self-sufficient in everything

Otherwise, the Core i3-6098P is in no way inferior to the 6100: the core architecture is the same as Skylake, the memory cache is the same 3 MB, DDR4, DDR3L and unofficially DDR3 memory is supported (it works without problems). Only the frequency is 100 MHz lower (3.6 vs. 3.7 GHz), but this is a negligible difference. As a result, due to its moderate cost, it is the 6098P that is currently the best option for a gaming PC with a low-cost (GeForce GTX 1050 Ti, Radeon RX 460) and even a mainstream graphics card (GTX 1060, RX 470 and 480).
