Compactness doesn't stop the sound
The German company Sennheiser has been a leader in the audio industry for more than 70 years. Having presented the world with the first open headphones Sennheiser HD 414 (1968), the company's engineers actively developed this industry, introducing new technologies. Among the multifunctional massive counterparts, the Sennheiser MX 585 headphones can be called a kind of experiment that was crowned with success, because, despite the low weight of 14 grams and ultra-compactness, the device surprises with its sound characteristics.
Design and equipment
The model is made of high quality white plastic with a stylish corrugated cord. Connections are made using a 1.2 m balanced cable with an L-shaped mini-Jack plug (3.5 mm). For ease of transportation and storage of the device, the set includes a fabric pouch with a drawstring, which can also fit a small MP3 player. To improve the sound quality and conveniently position the headphones in the ear canal, the package includes two pairs of ear cushions: rubberized and foam rubber.
It is convenient to adjust the volume using the regulator located on the cord, but talking on the phone using the presented model will not work, since the built-in microphone is not provided here.
Ergonomics and sound
Due to its miniature size and low weight, the presented model is perfect for those who like to listen to music without feeling the device. Given that the headphones fit snugly into the ear, they can even be used in the gym.
Noise canceling leaves much to be desired, which is quite normal for headphones of this type, but using ear pads, this drawback can be smoothed out.
The sound of the headphones is impressive, the frequency range of 18 – 20,000 Hz is enough to get a detailed sound with rich colours. The device has good low frequencies, which are slightly cut off when listening to ear pads, but this can be corrected using an equalizer or other advanced settings of a portable device.
