How to choose a gaming headphoneWe understand the differences between regular and gaming headphones, tell you how to approach the choice of a headset wisely

Google Pixel Buds 2 price graph

    I am a fan of Google products, but these headphones can hardly even be called a product.
     29 May 2021
    The appearance is pleasant, the headphones fit well in the ears, and there is a standard set of two pairs of different-sized ear tips included. Gestures work wonderfully, no false touches, they read swipes perfectly, sensors do not activate when not needed, for example, when adjusting the headphones. The case is very nice, small, the lid is very well made, I constantly open it with flicks, so far no wobble or looseness. It charges and is charged quickly, the charge indicators look stylish. The headphones sound good, as for a standard headset. An acceptable battery life.

    That's about it for the pros, now let's get to the cons: the volume reserve is simply negligible, the first 3 lower volume steps the headphones almost completely silent. The AAC codec causes crackling when nothing is playing. Outdoors at temperatures of 5°C and below, the headphones just shut off, first one, then the other. They won't turn back on until you warm them up at home. The issue disappeared with the arrival of warm spring. I suffered from random shutoffs for a month, but with the arrival of a new firmware update, everything got sorted. Once the connection with devices dropped so badly that I had to reset to factory settings. During calls, it's better to use both earphones because the noise cancellation on the microphones with one headphone doesn't work, the interlocutor hears poorly until you plug in the second one. When opening the case, the battery charge notification comes randomly, sometimes after 5 seconds, sometimes after 5 minutes (Pixel 3). To find out the charge of the case, you need to take out one earphone and leave the other inside.

    Build quality;
    Control;
    Sound 4/5;
    Convenient app;
    Strong magnets hold well with small and medium ear tips.
    Power off in cold weather;
    Volume reserve is terribly low;
    Slow response to gestures;
    The uneven discharge of the headphones is off the charts. (One may be at 61%, the other at 29%, even though you use them equally. Next time they might switch, with the second one at 70% and the first at 40%);
    With large ear pads, the headphones do not fit into their slots. (The magnet doesn't reach because the rubbers hit the case, you have to press them in);
    In sunlight, the charge indicators on the case are not visible. And here the previous problem can combine with this one, in the sunlight you insert the headphones into the case, don't see if they have properly connected, and accordingly, they do not turn off Bluetooth, continue playing and discharging, plus you do not receive notifications, as they beep in the headphones.
