The camera is ambiguous because its price isn't significantly higher than the Silver, yet it offers fewer features. For instance, it lacks GPS and only records in 1080p resolution. It may seem like the differences aren't that significant, but in reality, they are. For example, if you shoot only in 1080p and then need to crop the video or further stabilize it, you'll lose detail. I film in 2K on a quadcopter and then crop down to 1080p, which provides a resolution buffer. Speaking of the camera overall, it's not bad, despite its drawbacks. As a blogger, the mono microphone isn't sufficient for me. Even though it records well, it's still mono. The body feels very nice to the touch; the rubberized material seems wear-resistant, but we'll see over time. It features voice control, which is incredibly helpful in certain situations, especially since I film alone. It has electronic stabilization, which is enough for me, plus I further stabilize the footage if necessary. I really like the shooting quality and color reproduction. Unfortunately, you can't change the color profile in raw, but the default profile can be stretched quite well afterward, with no artifacts unless you overdo the shadows. The sound, albeit mono, records well, and I really like it. I might buy an Osmo for even smoother footage, but, as I've said, 90% of the time, it's more than enough. I'd rate the camera 3.7, but since you can only rate in whole numbers like 5, 4, etc., I'll give it a 4. I find the price slightly high, but it's a quality product. Video quality: 7 out of 10. There is a time-lapse mode. Good sound. Stabilization. No GPS. For this money, they could have added 2K recording. use GoPro HERO7 White Edition few months |
