The second generation of Kingston's popular consumer M.2 SSD. Relating to the M.2-2280 form factor, it weighs only 7 grams and consumes just under 2.5 watts of electricity. Suitable for installation in most modern PCs, laptops and ultrabooks equipped with an M.2 Key-M slot. It is an extremely successful sequel to the popular Kingston NV1 drive, in which the company's engineers successfully fixed almost all the flaws. In particular, they replaced the problematic Phison PS5013-E13-31 controller, which periodically suffered from heating, due to which the average temperature of the drive during intensive work rarely exceeds 65 ° C. This decision made it possible to abandon the external radiator, slightly reducing the price of the device. After that, support for the PCI-E 4.0 data exchange inte...rface was added to the drive, which favorably affected the speed performance of the device: the linear read speed reaches 3500 MB / s, while files are written inside the drive at a speed of 2100 MB / s. Plus, the manufacturer gives a 3-year warranty, backed by a serious time between failures (TBW) of 160 TB. It is also important to note that the Kingston NV2 SNV2S costs a couple of dollars more than the average price tag of most low-cost SATA3 SSDs, making it an equally promising option for entry-level and mid-range gaming PCs, home multimedia PCs, low-cost workstations or modern laptops.

great model, I really liked it
24 April
Once again, I got frustrated with running out of space on my computer, so I decided to go shopping for an SSD. I wanted one large enough to cover all my needs, so I immediately opted for 1 TB and, of course, Kingston, as it's my benchmark for quality in SSDs, flash drives, etc. I installed it without any issues, although I didn't expect it to be so thin—it was genuinely a bit scary to hold. The computer recognized it right away, and I've been using it for over a year now. The actual available capacity is 931 GB, and the speed is good, almost matching what the manufacturer claims, with just the read speed lagging a bit (possibly due to testing conditions)—I've added my screenshot. Now, there's a new Kingston NV3 model out, with the same price but twice the speed, so I would definitely get that now =) But honestly, when using it at home, you don't really think much about the speed anymore; gone are the days when installing Windows could take 2-3 hours on an HDD.
fast, large capacity

At first I was aiming for the KC3000 and wanted to get something bigger – 2 or 4 TB, but then a promotion for this drive came up, so I decided to try it. I use it for the system, and, to be honest, it works fast. There is nothing to compare it with, except for old IDEs – and here, of course, space.
Yes, it is unbuffered, and it does not set speed records. But it performs its function properly and is inexpensive. I do not plan to store anything super important on it, but as a system drive it is perfect. Overall, nothing outstanding, but nothing bad either. Just a stable SSD for everyday tasks.

Good cheap ssd

yak for shares 2999 UAH - a good ssd. Dovolі swidky and not expensive. It's a pity, SLC is only 10% of the total volume, so the declared speed does not mean much at the time of recording. Ale read well.

Affordable SSD with PCI-E 4.0 bus support

Kingston NV2 SNV2S is one of the most affordable M.2 SSDs with PCI-E Gen 4 system interface support. It has an impressive storage capacity of 1000 GB, its write speed is 2100 MB/s, and the read speed can reach 3500 MB/s. IOPS indicators in Kingston are not advertised, since entry-level drives can use different variations of the controller and flash memory. In comparison with the first generation of NV1 drives, this model has replaced the control controller, which does not heat up above 65 ° C under heavy load.

No separate heatsink

All this makes the Kingston NV2 SNV2S an excellent option for the main system drive in a mid-range gaming PC. It costs literally a box of matches more than most popular SATA3 SSDs, the operating speeds of which are usually 3-4 times lower. It doesn't have a heatsink, but that's not a problem as most gaming and even consumer grade motherboards come with their own M.2 heatsinks. Due to the low heat level, it is ideal for installation in gaming laptops. And the available terabyte of memory should be enough for most players.

Best SSD for gaming PCs and mid-range laptops

In our opinion, buying a faster SSD from Samsung, WD or Gigabyte doesn't make much sense when it comes to a typical 2023 gaming PC. Gaming tests in recent years have shown that for most games there is not much difference between the average SSD and expensive drives with operating speeds of 5000 MB / s and higher. In open-world games, they load textures give or take at the same speed, which Sony head of gaming division Jim Ryan does not tell us. Perhaps the only disadvantage of the Kingston NV2 SNV2S is the lack of a DRAM buffer. For most ordinary users, this information does not make much sense, but enthusiasts may be upset.
