This is my first saw. I saved money for a long time and chose it only after personally using DeWalt, Bosch, and Makita saws at my friends' places. I patiently listened to their monologues about the pros and cons of their "horses" and took notes for myself. I liked DeWalt the most. But the price and service in case of a breakdown (at least in our region) put me off. Bosch is a little "simpler" than DeWalt but not better than Makita. But again, there's the issue of price and service. Then, after studying reviews on forums and taking advice from friends, I made the following modifications to my Makita right after purchase. 1. I removed the forced stop function of the saw blade with the help of a specialist. I believe this is a practically useless function. The stopping time of the blade increased from 4-5 seconds to 9-11 seconds, depending on the outer diameter and weight of the saw blade. For me personally, a quick stop of the blade doesn't solve anything. However, the "health" of the engine, lamellas, and brushes will last much longer. Anyone who knows the principles of the forced stop of the saw blade will understand me. 2. I bought an electronic current relay TENSE (about 40 dollars) to protect the electric motor from overload, set it up, and now I'm at ease. 3. I made a stand for the Makita of my own design with a sawdust collection system without a chip extractor and, most importantly, with the ability to quickly tilt the unit almost 160 degrees without removing it from the stand. This allows for a very prompt inspection and maintenance of the saw's "innards," timely cleaning of dust, and periodic lubrication as needed. A normal working saw for the home workshop. Availability of satisfactory service in case of breakdown. Powerful engine. Smooth start I've been working for a little over 2 months. I didn't notice any particular shortcomings. Probably only the need to constantly monitor the angle of the saw blade. Well, most likely this is the need for constant work by the operator. use Makita 2704 month or more |
