PCI controllers with additional power
prices on 15 modelsAdditional power
— this feature means that the controller requires additional power from the computer's power supply. The PCI-E connector, commonly used to connect this type of component, by itself provides power up to 75 watts. This is not always enough, so if necessary, PCI controllers provide connectors for additional power. This feature is a sign of a fairly advanced device — most often an expansion board (see "Type") with numerous ports and increased USB power supply. Note that additional power can be connected through two different types of plug — Molex and SATA; so when buying a controller, it's ok to clarify this point. However, there are devices that have both types of connectors.
