New laptops at Computex-2017

A hybrid of a laptop and a tablet from a young Eve-Tech startup is designed to compete with Microsoft Surface Pro 4 1 TB . Much of its design and equipment is much more convenient. And this is not for nothing.

The device was created taking into account the numerous wishes of users — their reviews were collected at the stage of the idea of creating a transformer for almost every item and were implemented in fact. As a result, the model got a practical removable keyboard with an alcantara coating and support for working both through mechanical contacts and via a Bluetooth connection, a sufficient number of ports for connecting external devices (2 USB 3.1 ports, two USB Type-C ports, a built-in card reader and a headphone output), and also got a good hardware.

The manufacturer offers several configurations of the device: from a modification with an Intel Core M3 processor with 8 GB of RAM and a 128 GB SSD disk to a version with a more performant Kaby Lake-Y series chip represented by Intel Core i7-7Y75, working in conjunction with 16 GB of RAM (SSD volume in this case will be 512 GB). This family of processors is characterized by low power consumption, so one battery charge is often enough for 12 hours of continuous operation of the device.

The 12.3-inch Eve-Tech Eve 5 screen has a resolution of 2734x1824 pixels. You can work with it both through classical data input using the keyboard and touch pad, and by touch input (tapping on the screen with your finger or a stylus pen with 1024 degrees of pressure recognition). The hybrid is also equipped with two cameras with a resolution of 5 MP and 2 MP for video conferencing and Skype communication. Given the fact that Intel itself invested in the stratap, the future of Eve-Tech Eve V promises to be very rosy.

Acer Nitro 5 is a good solution for those who like to spend a couple of hours in the virtual gaming world, but are not ready to spend money on serious gaming equipment. It is for such users that a laptop with a screen size of 15 is focused.6" and a variety of available configurations for every taste and colour.

Both fans of the Intel platform and adherents of AMD will be able to choose the required configuration for themselves. In the first case, the user can choose between the latest generation Core i5 and Core i7 processors, as well as Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 Ti and regular GeForce GTX 1050 graphics cards. And in the second one, you will have to decide between the FX, A10 and A12 chips. The graphics card used for all of them is the same — AMD Radeon RX 550. In addition, the laptop can be equipped with up to 32 GB of RAM, an SSD drive with a volume of up to 512 GB and a hard disk with a capacity of up to 2 TB.

The gaming orientation of the Acer Nitro 5 is given out by the beveled edges on the lid and the red backlight of the keyboard (the WASD group of keys is highlighted a little more intensely than usual). The manufacturer himself calls his brainchild a good option for online games (Dota 2, Counter Strike, etc.) that do not require a huge amount of resources. Although in heavier games, "iron" shows decent performance results.

Regarding the family of gaming laptops, the model with the Nitro 5 index is much lighter and more compact. Not a very pleasant impression is created about it only by the wide frames around the display. But for the low cost that the manufacturer requests for his brainchild, you can safely close your eyes to this nuance — it is unlikely that it will radically affect the integrity of the perception of the picture.

The Flip prefix in the name of a transformer laptop with a non-switchable keyboard from the Taiwanese company Asus indicates nothing more than the possibility of tilting the laptop display within 360°. And the S symbol at the end of the model name makes it clear about its ultra—compact thickness — only 10.9 mm.

At the time of the announcement, such a small thickness of the case is a record for representatives of the transformer class. In addition, the laptop has a small weight — 1.1 kg. And this is despite the fact that the body of the model is made of aluminium alloy. Despite the extremely compact dimensions in thickness, there was a place for two USB Type-C ports, a fingerprint scanner, a volume rocker and a power button on the ends of the Asus ZenBook Flip S case.

With a diagonal of 13.3", the display resolution of the model is 3840x2160 pixels (4K format). The screen covers 100% of the sRGB colour space, which, along with support for touch input and the presence of an Asus Pen in the package of the device, opens up wide possibilities in working with photo editors. The installed hardware also allows you to render video — an Intel Core i7-7500U processor, 16 GB of RAM and an SSD disk with a volume of up to 1 TB, used in the most "pumped" configuration, are a vivid confirmation of a good power reserve for performing a wide variety of tasks.

The laptop produces decent sound quality, the merit of which lies on the shoulders of the built-in speakers from the renowned Harman/Kardon audio brand. In a separate line, it is necessary to note the long—term battery life of the model — on a single battery charge with a capacity of 39 Wh, the laptop is able to last about 11.5 hours. Support for fast charging technology allows you to replenish the energy reserves of the battery up to 60% in just 39 minutes. — and this is enough to watch 2-3 full-length films. Thanks to its versatility, the Asus ZenBook Flip S is the optimal solution for both home and office.

A gaming laptop with a 15.6-inch display almost does not differ in size from the Gigabyte Aero 14.It's all about the thinnest frames around the screen. Because of them, there was no place for a webcam on the upper edge, which, however, did not prevent it from taking a position under the display.

The model is both a performant and autonomous device. It operates on the basis of a powerful Intel Core i7-7700HQ chip. The amount of RAM can vary between 8 and 16 GB, and Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 with 6 GB of video memory is used as graphics on board the device. Users can choose from two versions of screens — with FullHD resolution and 4K format. All this wealth is able to work without recharging for up to 10 hours (not in the game, but in normal use).

The laptop keyboard is equipped with a customizable RGB backlight system. Moreover, it can be configured for a variety of individual zones. Of the connectors, the model has three USB 3.0 ports, one USB Type-C Thunderbolt 3, a full-size HDMI 2.0 and Mini DisplayPort. Such a set is quite enough to provide the ability to connect a number of third-party devices to a laptop.

For the cost of Gigabyte Aero 15, it is easy to assemble a desktop version of a gaming PC. But then all the advantages of a laptop are lost — compact size and the ability to be in the game, wherever you are. And so a powerful device with a stylish memorable appearance will always be at hand, allowing you to perform both everyday tasks and plunge into the virtual game world.

The "Marshmallow" from the Asus ROG gaming line is one of the first devices on board of which the concept of production of thin and light Nvidia Max-Q gaming laptops is implemented. The basis for building such leptops is a powerful GeForce GTX 1080 graphics card.

To cool such a powerful graphics, a special Active Aerodynamic System was created — the lower part of the device body seems to rise up a centimeter when the lid is fully opened, providing an influx of air for more efficient blowing of components. In order not to be distracted by searching for the required button on the keyboard in game battles, the backlight of its keys can be adjusted according to your own preferences by highlighting the WASD and QWER blocks in a separate colour. As a result, if there are no low-cost constraints, the Asus ROG Zephyrus will serve as the optimal choice for gamers who often take a laptop with them — with a case thickness of only 17.9 mm and a weight of a little more than 2 kg, it turned out to be several times more compact than its class counterparts, not to the detriment of performance.
