Model overview based on user reviews
The Seagate Constellation ES.3 series, including the ST1000NM0033 model, is praised for its quick performance and affordable price, making it a suitable choice for video surveillance systems. Users have noted that while the drive operates efficiently, it does produce a noticeable crackling sound during read and write operations. Additionally, the drive tends to heat up, which can be beneficial in colder environments. It's important to be cautious of power supply issues, as power failures can impact the longevity of any hard drive, including this one. Overall, the Seagate Constellation ES.3 is a reliable option, especially when used with a stable power supply.

Got myself this factory-refurbished one. Didn't have time to test it on the computer right away—straight to video surveillance. It crackles a bit while reading and writing. The thermometer says it heats up like all HDDs. But that's a plus in a cold winter room. :) I'd specifically mention the downfall of any HDD: any constant deficiencies or single power failures can kill any hard drive! Some quicker, some take a bit longer. So sometimes it's worth testing the working parameters of your "best and time-tested" power supply. Works quickly, price, heats the video surveillance system. The mice complained about the crackling. |
