It can be said that Elgato's history began in 2002 with the establishment of Elgato Systems GmbH by Markus Fest in Munich, Germany. The company's first product was the external TV tuner EyeTV, which became extremely popular, especially among Apple computer users. In 2010, the decision was made to start producing products under the Elgato brand, as mentioned earlier. As for EyeTV, since 2016, this brand has been owned by Geniatech Europe GmbH, a German subsidiary of the Chinese company Shenzhen Geniatech Inc., Ltd.

In 2018, the Elgato brand was acquired by the well-known American manufacturer of computer peripherals and components for gamers, Corsair Gaming. Today, this brand continues to evolve as a key player in the field of devices and software for creating and broadcasting multimedia content, offering various solutions for enthusiasts and professionals alike.

As for Elgato Systems, after selling its main brand, it completely shifted its focus to smart home products under the Eve brand. As a result, the company changed its name to Eve Systems GmbH. Since 2023, it has been part of the Swedish-Swiss multinational corporation ABB Ltd., specializing in various digital technologies.
