Disc printing

The print-to-disc feature allows you to use the drive's laser to print a pattern directly onto the surface of the disc. In this way, you can easily create a disc with a unique design. To date, the following technologies are used for printing on disks:

— LightScribe. It is used to create an image only on the back (non-working) surface of discs. Only a monochrome image can be created, only the background colour can differ. It is impossible to remove the image from the surface of the disk, but it can be supplemented with new details. Printing is possible only on special discs.

— LabelFlash. This technology is able to work with any recordable "blanks", because. it was originally designed to create images on the working side of the disk (unlike LightScribe). The main drawback is that the part with the image becomes unusable for recording, and the working volume of the disc decreases accordingly. Printing on the reverse side is also possible, but this already requires special discs; they are not compatible with LightScribe.

— labeltag. Technology similar to LabelFlash (see above) — works with any recordable discs, the image is applied only to the working surface, with a corresponding reduction in working capacity. Printing on the back of the discs is not provided. Today it is mainly used in drives manufactured by Lite-On.
