Flushes
Flushes
— additives designed, in accordance with the name, to remove various contaminants and deposits from the internal surfaces of the engine and other vehicle systems — fuel, oil, etc. They may have different specializations (see "Purpose").Note that this variety is one of the most controversial among automotive additives. The fact is that in order to effectively combat pollution, quite aggressive substances are often used that can damage various rubber sealing elements — especially if the latter are already very worn out. In addition, “washed away” deposits do not disappear anywhere, they move on: for example, dirt from the fuel system often settles in the carburetor and injectors, which may require their cleaning; and deposits from the engine enter the exhaust system, which is especially affected by relatively new cars with catalysts. So cleaning additives are often recommended to be used only as a last resort — in the event that a momentary positive effect is more critical than subsequent side effects.
