Vacuum cleaners for wet cleaning

With the help of washing vacuum cleaners, it is possible to perform both dry and wet cleaning. This is their main advantage. In addition, they are able to collect liquid spilled on the floor, spray moisture, moistening the room, wash windows, tiles and floors, clean up large litter, clean a clogged sink.

The advantages of these devices are obvious: versatility of use (but it is not recommended to clean fleecy carpets and parquet with them); the possibility of aromatization and deodorization of the room.

Unfortunately, there were some disadvantages: the devices consume a lot of electricity; require special care and additional costs for cleaning liquids; are expensive and weigh quite a lot. Remember that washing models are not designed for weekly, much less daily cleaning. To do this, it is better to choose a vacuum cleaner of the "dry" type. About such devices - further.

Vacuum cleaners for dry cleaning

This type of vacuum cleaners is divided into subspecies, depending on the method of collecting dust. So, there are models with an aquafilter, there are with a container for collecting dust and with a dust bag. To understand which one is preferable for you, you should familiarize yourself with the advantages and disadvantages of each type.

Devices with an aquafilter pass dust through the water, which is located in a special tank of the device. After the procedure is completed, the dirty liquid is necessarily poured out. At the next cleaning, the tank is filled with clean water.

Advantages of such models:

  • saving on the purchase of additional replaceable dust collectors;
  • increase in indoor air humidity.

Among the disadvantages are:

  • the large weight of the equipment, its overall dimensions;
  • a time-consuming algorithm for vacuum cleaner maintenance (pour water, pour dirty, rinse the water compartment and dry it), regardless of whether you need to clean the whole house or just clean the carpet.

We advise you to remember: the aquafilter does not produce anti-allergenic air purification, special fine filters are responsible for this. We will tell you more about them below.

Models with a container, that is, with a separate compartment for garbage collection, usually, use a cyclonic air intake system, as a result of which it swirls around the filter. This is a kind of mini-tornado inside the vacuum cleaner. Dust particles "circle in a circle" and settle in the dust collector. It is usually made of transparent plastic. It is cleared as it is filled. The advantages of this type of equipment is that it is easy to operate and does not require cleaning the container after each use. The disadvantages are: the need for contact with open dust, which is extremely undesirable for allergy sufferers; low efficiency, because, as studies show, a vacuum cleaner with a container cannot retain more than 96% of dust. However, the last disadvantage is eliminated by equipping the model with a carbon filter and a HEPA filter (fine air filter).

Vacuum cleaners with dust bags provide both models with paper bags and reusable textile ones. Recently, there has been a trend towards the use of replaceable paper bags. The advantages of such models are that they minimize contact with dust, are convenient to use, do not require frequent replacement of bags, which, usually, are quite roomy. There is one drawback – you will have to allocate an amount from the low-cost from time to time to buy new bags. As for vacuum cleaners with textile bags, we will not consider their pros and cons, since there are a lot of the latter. Experts do not advise buying such models, especially if they are not equipped with effective filters.

In addition to the above models, you can find devices on the market that use two different dust collection systems. An example is a model with an aquafilter and a dust bag. This is a good option if you are willing to pay a significant amount for it. Usually, combined devices are expensive.

Power

The next parameter to pay attention to when choosing a vacuum cleaner is the suction power. The logic is simple: the larger it is, the faster the assistant will cope with the task. And the less effort you will spend on cleaning.

The 350 Watt model is quite suitable for cleaning the entire house, including cleaning carpets with a small pile, linoleum, tiles, parquet. Do you have any pets? Then it is better to buy a vacuum cleaner with a suction power from 350 to 500 watts. However, do not confuse the suction power with the power consumption – the maximum amount of energy that is needed for the model to work. Usually, manufacturers indicate the last indicator in large font on the body of the equipment. It is important to know that the combination of the average power consumption and high suction power indicate the excellent quality of the vacuum pump and the high class of the vacuum cleaner.

Filters

This is one of the most important components of such equipment as a vacuum cleaner. The filter reduces the amount of dust particles blown with air from the working model. The number of filters affects the degree of air purification, which is especially important for people suffering from allergies. The price of the equipment also largely depends on the quality of the filter. Fabric, paper, synthetic filters included in the standard set of each device retain about 80% of dust. A water filter is much more efficient.

If there is a fine HEPA filter in the vacuum cleaner, this is a big plus. It is made of a porous fiberglass-based material and traps the smallest dust particles. The efficiency of HEPA filters can also be different: from 85% (HEPA H 10) to 99.99995% (HEPA H 15; HEPA H 16).

Vacuum Cleaner Accessories

First of all, these are the nozzles included with the model. The more of them, the more functional the device. It is good if the vacuum cleaner is equipped with, in addition to standard nozzles (for smooth surfaces, carpets, for cracks), a turbo brush – a special roller nozzle, which is designed to collect lint and wool from any coating. It is worth saying that its use slightly reduces the suction power of the equipment.

Usually, the manufacturer equips the model with three or four nozzles. In order not to lose them, it is better to store the nozzles directly in the vacuum cleaner housing, if there is a place for them.

Noise level

When choosing a vacuum cleaner, its noise level in working condition plays an important role. It should not exceed 80 dB. For comparison, a whisper is equivalent to an indicator of 40 dB. Most of the models on the market have a noise level of 70 dB. There are also "quiet" ones - about 60 dB. If we talk about the "noise" of a particular subspecies of vacuum cleaner, then "cyclones" are noisier than vacuum cleaners with a dust bag.

Additional parameters

Among other aspects that are worth paying attention to, we can name the following:

  • the size of the model. Compact devices are very manoeuvrable, do not take up much space, they are convenient to store. But mini-models can not boast of great power and a set of functions;
  • the range of the model. A 6-9 m long cord is an perfect option for comfortable cleaning. In addition, the advantage is the function of automatic winding of the cord.
  • safety indicators. It is great if the vacuum cleaner has such functions as a dust collector fill indicator, overheating protection, as well as the presence of a rubber bumper to protect furniture from device impacts.
