In this table you can compare the characteristics of tourist review mats, and at this link you can get acquainted with the full catalog of travel mats.

Lightweight, durable.

Inflates only with the mouth.

The thickness of the mat when inflated is 75 mm. This is quite enough for hiking until late autumn, but the model is not intended for winter. At subzero temperatures, it will be cool to sit or lie even in a sleeping bag. On the other hand, the weight is only 0.45 kg, which is not much more than the usual karemat, and the comfort is noticeably higher. In addition, there is a fairly convenient case that can be hung from a backpack, allowing you to compactly lay the mat in a deflated state.

The mat is made of durable polyester on a fabric basis, resistant to moisture. This material is easy to clean with ordinary water and rags, and is dense enough to put it directly on the ground without fear of punctures or other damage. And even if this happens, a repair kit is provided in the kit ― a patch made of the appropriate material and a special glue.

The only difficulty in the operation of this model is the way to bring it into working position. You can inflate the mat exclusively with your mouth, because the valve is closed with a special perforated lid, which is not removable, but only unscrews to a certain level. At the same time, the cover design does not provide connection to the pump, so there is no such device in the kit. In a long hike by the end of the day's march, this method of inflating can cause some difficulties.

It provides comfort in hiking of any type, including without tents, and inflates easily enough ― even fragile ladies can cope.

Light, unusual appearance.

This hiking mat is designed for use in warm conditions ― in summer, spring or early autumn. Although its thickness (55 mm), allows you to use the mat in cold periods. However, we recommend to refrain from resting in the snow ― the probability of freezing is quite high. A small thickness also provides a small weight (only 0.56 kg), which will not become a special burden even on a long hike.

The model is made of RipStop fabric, which is usually used for backpacks. It should be noted that in terms of density it corresponds to urban backpacks, i.e. it is strong enough and with good protection from moisture, but it is not designed for extreme loads. One or two people may well sit on the mat, but due to the greater weight, the material may well burst, although there is no exact data on permissible loads.

Externally, the mat differs from its analogues ― in addition to the orange colour, the squares into which the surface is divided attract attention. It is they who inflate, and the impression of a segmented surface is created, although this is not the case. The cavity is solid and filled with air evenly. Inflate individual elements or isolate the compartment (for example, with a puncture) will not work, although it will not be a problem to make a general repair, because there is a full repair kit available.

The mat is inflated manually through a wide valve. This can be done with both a mouth and a pump. The latter, however, is not provided in the kit, and you will have to look for it separately, although this will not be a particular problem ― you can buy a standard valve and a suitable adapter in any tourist store.

A bright and unusual hiking mat with a small weight and a convenient inflating system, suitable for most hikes.

Self-inflating, pillow, fastened.

No significant drawbacks were found.

The mat has the possibility of co―fastening with other mats — by means of a push-button system. Along the contour there are special fasteners for connecting several mats into one large one. This feature is useful on a family vacation to create one large sleeping place, and at the same time distribute its weight across several backpacks. In addition, the KingCamp Base Camp XL weighs 1.3 kg, and it will be difficult for one traveler to carry several of these.

Note two important features of the model: automatic inflating and the presence of a pillow. Thanks to the first one, you do not need to waste time and effort on bringing the mat into working condition, just open the valves and wait for about 10 minutes. The second is not often found in camping mats, but it significantly increases the comfort of operation. Of course, such a pillow is far from the usual home, but anyway, the load on the neck and back during sleep is reduced.

The mat has proven itself well in summer conditions on a relatively flat surface. Still, a thickness of 30 mm does not allow for good thermal insulation, and most of the pebbles or cones are felt quite clearly. In fact, the model is simply softer than the usual karemat.

Self-inflating hiking mat, which is best used in the warm season. The presence of a pillow translates it into the category of increased comfort, but the thickness does not allow you to put it anywhere ― it is worth clearing a place to rest.

Self-inflating.

Only for summer.

Included with the mat are a cover, elastic bands and a repair kit. But if the latter is extremely useful and allows you to quickly fix any puncture, then the former clearly lacks fasteners for hanging on a backpack. Of course, you can use compression straps, but having your own handles, straps or elastic bands on the case would greatly simplify transportation.

To use the mat, simply open the valve. It takes about 10 minutes to fully inflate, so it is quite possible to have time to put up a tent and prepare the camp for rest. The inflating process takes place without the participation of the user, i.e. the mat is self-inflating, which is certainly convenient, especially after a heavy hike.

We will immediately pay attention to several points: the thickness of the mat in the inflated state is 38 mm, inside there is foam with air channels, and the outer surface is made of non-slip polyester. These features allow you to use the model only in summer hikes. Perhaps in late spring it will also be quite comfortable with her, but in the autumn or winter hike it is better to find a thicker model. At the same time, the rolled―up weight of 0.96 kg is impressive enough to play a negative role in most hikes.

A good purchase for summer hikes over not very long distances with a small backpack load.

Heavy.

The Tramp TRI-009 model is a self-inflating travel mat designed (according to the manufacturer) for use in any season, including even winter. Considering the thickness (70 mm), high-quality foam filling and polyester-based suede surface, even in severe frosts, it will be quite comfortable to sit or lie on it. And even more convenience is added by the automatic filling of the mat with air ― with the help of two valves, it takes only 5-6 minutes to inflate, so the mat is suitable for most hikes and outings.

Also note an interesting feature ― there are metal buttons along the perimeter of the mat, with which you can fasten several mats, turning them into a sleeping place for two or three people. Considering that this model can withstand a load of up to 130 kg, it is quite possible to lay even a large tent with such mats, for example, for a married couple.

With all the advantages of the mat, there is also a significant drawback ― the weight of 2.5 kg. This is quite a lot even for short crossings, not to mention long-distance cross-country travel. And the soft upper coating does not react well to rain and snow, so the priority use of the model can be called traveling by car with an overnight stay in tents.

A warm and fast-blowing rug, which, due to its impressive mass, is not particularly suitable for hiking, but it withstands even very cold weather well.
