The first model in our review is a wrap sling. It will be appreciated by sling moms—women who prefer the natural way of carrying a baby and natural materials. The advantage of the model is its versatility. It is designed for children from birth to three years old, and for weight— from 3.5 to 13 kg, according to the manufacturer. But according to moms’ reviews, this wrap is comfortable for carrying a child up to two years old, and even then only a smaller child, as the stated 13 kg is hard for this carrier to handle. Another plus is its ergonomic design. This wrap sling allows you to carry the baby lying down, sitting, or even tied to your hip as they grow. The method of tying the wrap ensures proper positioning of the baby in a seated position with legs spread wide, tightly pressed to the mom’s body, relieving the dangerous pressure on the baby’s undeveloped spine. It’s also very convenient for breastfeeding. The baby doesn’t need to be taken out— they are already facing the mother, and the clever design of the model hides the intimate process from the view of others. With the correct wrapping, the mother hardly feels the baby’s weight and doesn’t get tired. Hands remain free, and the weight is evenly distributed across the shoulders, spine, and hips. According to sling moms, the fabric quality of the wrap itself is rated “good” — the weave is correct, and the pattern is woven on the front side. The inside is soft and delicate, similar to flannel. The Polish manufacturer provides certificates and sanitary approvals confirming the quality and safety of the fabric. Experienced sling users find the fabric a bit stiff and too thick for summer use. The downside of this carrier is that it’s quite difficult to put on. It takes a lot of practice to properly wrap a sling. It’s not recommended as a first carrier for inexperienced moms. Another point is that this method of carrying is more suitable for warm weather. In winter, it can be difficult to tie a bundled-up baby close to you, and both mom and baby may feel uncomfortable on long walks. |

An ergonomic backpack from a well-known Polish manufacturer of baby accessories. Combines the benefits of carrying in a sling with the convenience of baby carrier backpacks. The sporty design is suitable for carrying babies aged 5-6 months to 3 years in a sitting position. You can carry the child in front of you on your chest or wear the backpack on your back. A significant drawback is that the design doesn’t allow for carrying the baby facing away from the parent. The ergonomic backpack is designed to support the baby in a “frog” position—with widely spread hips and a natural curve in the back. The soft back of the carrier wraps around the baby and follows the natural contours of the body. The design itself is similar to an improved wrap sling, though sling enthusiasts will still argue that traditional slings are better. According to moms, this backpack is ideal for short walks during the spring-winter season with a child up to 2 years old. But carrying a 3-year-old is difficult—the straps dig into the shoulders. However, this backpack is easier to put on and costs less than a European sling. The pleasant, natural fabric is comfortable against the skin, doesn’t chafe, and allows the body to “breathe.” This is how the manufacturer describes their product and recommends using the backpack year-round. However, experienced moms note that the fabric is thick, and it can get hot in the backpack during summer. The wide straps on the shoulders, waist, and hips ensure even weight distribution and comfortable carrying. The strap design allows for easy adjustment to find the right fit and comfortably seat the child, even if dressed in a warm snowsuit. In this position, it’s also easy to breastfeed the baby without drawing attention. The Womar ergonomic backpack offers several pleasant bonuses: a convenient soft headrest that supports the baby’s head and protects it from external impacts; a pocket for money at the bottom of the backpack; a hood to shield the baby from the weather; stylish design and bright colors; and six color options. |

Chicco Go Baby from 1 390 up to 2 090 ₴ → The classic baby carrier backpack is another high-quality offering from the legendary Italian baby products manufacturer Chicco. The design allows you to carry the baby facing towards or away from the parent, though it is not designed for back carrying. The manufacturer refers to the carrier as a chest pouch and recommends it for children from birth to 2 years old. However, moms do not recommend using this backpack for babies under 6 months, as the straps do not hold the baby’s body securely, leaving the baby, who is not yet able to sit properly, hanging by the crotch, which isn’t good for physical development. As for the manufacturer’s claim that it can carry children up to 2 years old, many moms find it uncomfortable. The legs of an older child dangle and interfere with walking. Additionally, the child leans far back in the backpack, requiring support with one hand. An undeniable advantage is the high-quality fabric and stitching. Users note the durability and practicality of the backpack, perfect stitching, and sturdy hardware. The carrier is easy to clean, dries quickly, and is very lightweight. The well-designed straps and fasteners make it easy to put on and take off by yourself. The child won’t get too hot in summer, and in winter, you can seat the baby in their outerwear and adjust the straps for comfort. The wide, soft shoulder straps are comfortable and don’t chafe. However, the downside is that this design doesn’t provide back support for the parent, and the baby’s weight is mostly borne by the shoulders, which can cause discomfort during extended use. This model can be a good budget solution for short walks with a baby aged 7-8 months to one and a half years. If the budget allows and you want something more functional and comfortable, consider the Chicco New Soft and Dream model. With a sturdy back, comfortable headrest hood, multiple positions (including horizontal), and improved strap adjustments, it’s a pleasure to carry a baby from birth to 9 kg. |

Cybex My.Go from 4 620 up to 5 160 ₴ → A German orthopedic ergonomic backpack designed for babies from birth to 5 years. Unlike standard baby carriers like “kangaroo” types, it supports the baby in a proper position—with widely spread legs pressed tightly against the parent, relieving pressure on the baby’s undeveloped spine. Visually and structurally, it resembles a mei-tai sling. It offers three carrying positions: on the chest, hip, and back, and the baby can face either towards or away from the parent. The three-point harness with wide straps can be adjusted to fit any body type. All fasteners are strong and convenient. An additional advantage is the removable newborn insert, which is included. The insert supports and protects the baby’s head and creates a cozy nest, wrapping around the baby’s back. According to user reviews, the Cybex My.Go carriers are very well designed and practical. Moms particularly praise the fabric quality, light weight, and baby comfort. Among the few critical reviews is the poor placement of the accessory pocket behind the baby’s back. Users complain that the thin partition between the pocket and the baby doesn’t protect the child from its contents. Keys or a phone in the pocket can cause discomfort to the baby. Some moms find the numerous buckles and strap adjustments difficult to figure out at first. However, they are necessary for adjusting the carrier to fit the baby comfortably. A little practice is all it takes to learn how to use it easily. In the Cybex range, there is an improved model—Cybex 2.Go , which is praised by parents across Europe. It is not only very comfortable for the baby, but also barely noticeable for the parent thanks to its excellent design and material quality. |

Baby Bjorn One from 9 600 up to 10 866 ₴ → A very popular baby carrier backpack in the U.S. The Swedish manufacturer classifies it as an ergonomic backpack and recommends it for carrying children aged 0 to 3 years in three different positions: on the chest, back, and hip. To be fair, not all moms agree that this is a true ergonomic backpack, as the baby is not tightly pressed to the parent, but rather hangs under the arms at first, and later sits on the bottom on a wide, soft seat. However, many users agree that Baby Bjorn carriers are very comfortable for the baby. The high-quality stitching and durable hardware ensure long-lasting use, and the well-thought-out fastening system relieves the load from the parent’s spine. Users claim that this backpack is very comfortable for the parent and “indestructible.” As for the fabric quality, the manufacturer added 40% polyester to the composition, which doesn’t appeal to fans of all-natural materials. However, this backpack is almost stain-resistant and dries quickly. Some moms complain that not all babies sleep comfortably in these models, and local pediatricians don’t recommend using them for babies under 5 months old. Whether to trust the manufacturer or local pediatricians is a personal choice for each mom. However, it’s worth noting that the high price of this backpack is comparable to the cost of quality European slings. If finances allow, you can opt for the improved Baby Bjorn Miracle model. The comfortable soft backrest allows the baby to face the world, and the advanced strap adjustment system helps shift the load and center of gravity to different areas of the parent’s body. The 100% cotton lining and mesh on the outer side of the backpack allow the body to “breathe,” keeping the baby cool even in summer. |
