Shower cabins consisting of a pallet, walls and a shower set are the simplest models. There is another variation on the theme of shower cabins — the so-called shower corner. In this case, the curtain walls are attached to the walls of the bathroom, and the pallet can be the floor of the bathroom, which has a built-in drain. There is no "ceiling" in such shower cabins. The functions of such models are limited, but their absence is compensated by an affordable price. This option is for those who live "on the run", appreciate time and the main thing in the shower for him is just to wash.

Shower boxes are cubicles closed from all sides. The presence of walls and a "ceiling" allows you to expand the capabilities and functions of the shower box so much that it will be more like a home SPA than a shower. The shower box doesn't have many features. Usually, this is only an overhead and manual shower and a hydro massage function. Some models allow you to take a softer and more comfortable rain shower: water enters through the ceiling grille, being sprayed into small drops and enriched with steam. Some models have several types of hydro massage. For example, intense for the back and cascading, softer, for the neck and shoulders. Shower boxes are equipped with lighting, ventilation and a convenient electronic control unit. Some models have a radio, a seat and a mirror. Due to the fact that they provide only the most necessary functions, the price of shower boxes is quite democratic.

The types of shower boxes include hydro massage boxes. Their functionality is broader. They have built-in devices for toning hydro massage of the legs and the whole body. It is possible to arrange a Turkish bath with wet steam or aromatherapy sessions (such models have a special dispenser for essential oils).

Shape and dimensions

It is important not only the size of the bathroom where the cabin will be installed, but also the height and proportions of the people who will use it. The minimum size of the shower cabin is from 70x70 cm. But it is better to choose a cabin with a width and length of 90 cm — this is enough for a person of average build. It makes sense for a large or tall person to choose the sizes individually: go into the booth and determine how comfortable he is there and move.

The shape of the cabin is chosen not only from aesthetic preferences. Square and rectangular booths are convenient to install both at the walls and in the corner. They have more interior space than booths with rounded corners. But they occupy more space in the bathroom, respectively, and not everyone likes to bypass additional corners.

Rounded cabins, both corner and wall-mounted, use the bathroom area more economically. But the lack of corners reduces the interior space of the cabin and complicates the design of walls and doors.

The design of the doors in the booth is chosen depending on the size of the bathroom. Swing doors are the simplest and most low-cost option. But they open outwards, so they will create a lot of inconvenience in a small bathroom. The sliding door slides aside along the guides, and the door-book comes off, folding inwards. These designs significantly save space, but they are more complicated and somewhat more expensive than a swing door. When choosing a shower stall, make sure that all doors and mechanisms move easily, smoothly and fit snugly together. It would be useful to clarify whether there is a guarantee for the mechanisms.

The walls and doors of shower cabins are made of plastic, plexiglass and special tempered glass. Plastic and plexiglass are cheaper, but they lose their appearance quite quickly. Streaks and small scratches appear on them. Glass is more expensive, but it does not threaten to lose its appearance. Do not be afraid of fragility — the walls of the booths are made of thick tempered glass. In high-quality shower cabins, a coating is applied to the glass, which prevents the formation of lime plaque. And yet, frosted or patterned glass is much more practical in care than more spectacular, but transparent.

Pallet

The most common material for the pallet is acrylic. It is lightweight, practical — it does not absorb dirt and rust, heats up quickly and is strong enough to withstand human weight and impacts of falling objects. For additional strength, acrylic pallets are reinforced with aluminium frames on adjustable legs. Four legs are installed in the corners, and one in the centre to take on the weight of a standing person.

The choice of the pallet depth is influenced by various factors. Low (height from 4 to 25 cm) pallets are cheaper. They are easy to cross, so they are convenient for almost everyone. At the same time, choosing a low pallet, make sure that the sewer system in the apartment is functioning perfectly. Minimal blockage with small sides of the pallet will quickly lead to flooding. Deep pallets remove this danger. In addition, they are convenient for families with children: they replace a bathing tub and allow you to splash in the water to your heart's content. When buying a shower stall, pay attention to the surface of the pallet — it is better that it is embossed, this will provide you with additional security.

Price and features

The cost of a shower cabin depends on the brand, configuration and materials used. The main parameters when choosing should be the quality of materials. As for functionality, think carefully about which functions you really need, and which ones you will use only a couple of times.
