Dell P2416D 24 " black

Until 2015, WQHD monitors were most often produced with a diagonal of 27". However, this diameter is more applicable for professional use. That is why Dell decided to launch the production of models with a diagonal of 24" and 25". They will be a great solution for home and office. In addition, their cost is less, and the pixel density (PPI) is higher.

It is worth noting that the factory calibration is not very high-quality, so this model is unlikely to suit professional designers or photographers. However, judging by the reviews and reviews, the model can be used for amateur photo editing or for games.

The monitor has a matte screen surface. Therefore, even sitting at the window or when working in a brightly lit office, annoying glare will not appear on its screen. The ergonomic stand allows you to choose the position of the screen for any user — be it a child or an adult. By the way, the monitor can be mounted on the wall — there is a standard mount (VESA). As with previous Dell models, mechanical buttons are used here to work with the menu (the more expensive 2015 models have touch controls, which not all users liked). Please also note that some instances may have so-called highlights (some areas of the screen are lighter than others) due to uneven illumination, which is typical for many IPS monitors.

Dell IPS monitors have been in the TOP of the most popular for several years, as they are among the best on the market in terms of price/quality ratio. The cost of the P2416D ($500) allows the model to fit into this trend and become one of the most successful offers for buyers of WQHD monitors.

The vast majority of WQHD monitors are equipped with IPS matrices. However, there is an alternative in the form of models with PLS matrices (for example, Philips 272C4QPJKAB), VA (ASUS PB328Q) and TN (Acer XG270HUomidpx). Models with PLS and VA matrices are comparable in image quality to IPS, and models with TN — it is worse.

BenQ BL2420PT 24 " black

BL2420PT is a 24" model that will be a good choice for those who do not fit 27" WQHD models in size or price. Plus, 24" copies have better clarity of displaying details and text.

The manufacturer positions this model as a solution for creative professionals working with graphics, video. The IPS matrix with a colour coverage of 100% sRGB, according to reviews, has a good factory setting. Therefore, the colours will be natural, which is a prerequisite for working with photos. The purpose of the model emphasizes the presence of special modes for working in CAD/CAM systems and animation. In the first, the clarity of drawing lines and details increases, which is very important for working in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, etc. And in the second, the drawing of details in dark areas of the image improves by increasing brightness. Since the response time of the matrix is 6 ms (GTG), the display is also suitable for games, although for enthusiastic gamers it is better to choose a specialized model (with a response time of 1-2 ms).

The BenQ has options that most other models do not have, for example, a competitor on the market — Dell P2416D. The BL2420PT monitor is equipped with built-in acoustics, however, of very limited quality (its power is 1 watt). External lighting and proximity sensors allow you to automatically turn off the screen when the user is away from the computer, and can remind him of the need to take breaks from work. In addition, this model has a wide range of inputs (Display Port, DVI-D, HDMI) and there is an output to headphones.

BenQ in its monitors, including this model, began to introduce technologies to improve the comfort of work. Flicker-free technology guarantees no flicker at any brightness level. And Low Blue Light reduces the intensity of the blue colour (which is considered unsafe for the eyes). There are four Flicker-free modes to choose from: "Multimedia", which reduces the intensity by 30%, "Internet", "Office" and "Reading" — by 50%, 60% and 70%, respectively.

Samsung S27D850T 27 "

A few years ago, Samsung was the market leader in monitors, but now the Korean company is not very active on it. However, she did not ignore the appearance of WQHD monitors and released a couple of such models back in 2014: 24" S27D850T (≈$500) and 32" S32D850T (≈$690).

Samsung S27D850T is one of the most affordable 27" WQHD models. The secret is that during its one—year stay on the market, it has significantly fallen in price — the price at the start of sales was more than $ 700. Let this model cannot be called a novelty, but its purchase can be considered a rational investment.

This model has a strict "appearance" combined with good ergonomics. The monitor has a very thin matte frame and is painted in bronze. There are also almost no questions about ergonomics, it will surely satisfy demanding users. The stand allows you to adjust the position of the screen in height (within 130 mm) and its angle of inclination (from -5 ° to +20 °). You can also rotate it in the plane of the table — the rotation angle is from -30° to +30 °. A set of video inputs (DVI, HDMI, DisplayPort) is supplemented with an audio input (mini-Jack 3.5 mm) and a headphone jack, as well as a USB 3.0 hub with 4 ports for connecting peripherals, one of which is equipped with Quick Charge technology. Also note that cables for all types of connection are included in the delivery package.

Unlike most similar monitors, the S27D850T does not use IPS, but a PLS matrix (this is the "trick" of Samsung monitors). The matrix has 100% sRGB coverage and viewing angles up to 178 degrees, which allows you to use the monitor for professional work with graphics . In Picture by Picture mode, the monitor will output a signal from two sources (for example, from a laptop and a desktop). And in Picture-in-Picture, you can, for example, watch a movie or video from YouTube (with a quality of up to 720p) in a separate window at the same time as you work in a browser or editor.

Please note that some customers noticed the backlight flickering at a brightness below 20%. It is worth turning off the automatic light sensor and manually setting the brightness level for comfortable operation at least 30%. By the way, the S27D850T has a lot of image settings. For example, you can choose one of the five colour temperature presets or configure it yourself.

High-quality IPS matrix, thin frame, no backlight flicker, USB 3.0 hub, two HDMI inputs with MHL, suitable for Mac, you can connect special acoustics.

Dell U2715H 27 " black

UltraSharp U2715H is a versatile 27—inch model that will suit the vast majority of users. Overall, the image quality and ergonomics are excellent. The matte coating does not glare, the viewing angles are close to perfect, pixelation is not noticeable and, importantly, the flickering of the backlight is eliminated. The ergonomic stand allows you to adjust the position of the screen for maximum convenience and turn it to a vertical position. A built-in light sensor would not hurt, but it has not yet become an indispensable attribute even for premium models.

The colour reproduction, as with other models with IPS matrices, is good. The monitor is suitable for amateur work with graphics and photo processing, but it will not satisfy all professionals: coverage according to the CIE1976 standard is 91%, and sRGB is 99%. If you are looking for an uncompromising solution, then pay attention to the model U2713H with 120% CIE 1976 coating, Adobe RGB 99% and sRGB 100%. However, it costs about one and a half times more expensive than the U2715H (about $ 1000).

However, it could not do without the disadvantages of this model. According to reviews on the Web, some instances have problems with uneven illumination. For example, one of the corners may be slightly brighter than the other three. This is typical of many IPS displays, including televisions. This disadvantage manifests itself, for example, when watching movies, but it is invisible when surfing. From the point of view of ergonomics, you can find fault with two points. The first is that the device does not "know" how to automatically select the source that receives the signal — this will have to be done manually, which is inconvenient if you have several sources connected to the monitor. The second is that not everyone liked the touch buttons.

Two HDMI inputs with MHL 2.0 support allow you to connect mobile gadgets to watch videos or photos. The Display Port and Mini Display Port connectors make the monitor suitable for use with Apple computers. At the same time, a "Mini DP-DP" cable is included. This, by the way, allows you to significantly save Mac Mini owners on buying an expensive 27" Apple Thunderbolt Display. By the way, the Dell monitor has two profiles with settings — for PC and Mac.

This model has an output for headphones/speakers and a USB hub for five USB 3.0 ports. Interestingly, the monitor has an output (DisplayPort) for connecting another display. If we consider that the U2715H has a very thin frame, then two of these models will make a good tandem for work, for example, for designers or programmers.

Asus MG279Q 27 " black

The MG279Q is an excellent monitor for players with an IPS matrix, and not the usual TN for gaming solutions. At the same time, the matrix has a high refresh rate (144 Hz), which provides a clear image in dynamic games. Asus also has a number of special functions for gamers, for example, including branded "chips".

The MG279Q, like other 2015 gaming monitors, has support for FreeSync technology. With its use, the refresh rate of the screen "adjusts" to the frame rate that the graphics card provides. Therefore, the image, even in dynamic scenes, is very smooth and devoid of breaks — the so-called tearing (screen tearing). If only the system could cope with the load and ensure that frames are fed to the monitor. Those who have tried to play behind a "fast" monitor with FreeSync have only positive impressions.

However, this technology has two "disadvantages". Firstly, its use increases the cost of the monitor. Secondly, FreeSync only works with new AMD Radeon graphics cards. This is not a minus of this monitor, but of this technology. Asus has a similar model that supports a similar G-Sync technology for NVIDIA cards — PG279Q.

This model has "chips" that are used only in Asus monitors. So, in the centre of the screen, the crosshair of the sight can be displayed in games. There are several options for sights to choose from. For example, it will come in handy if you fire a sniper rifle without wasting time on "aiming" through optics. And those who play a lot of real-time strategy and MOBA will need a timer that allows you to estimate how much time has passed since the start of the match (from 30 to 90 minutes). You can also use six ready-made sets of settings: for games (shooters, strategies and races), watching movies, photos or websites. In addition, the Asus model is also safe for the eyes — it uses Flicker-free and Low Blue Light technologies, which also became a trend in 2015.
