Built-in timer, 2 cleaning intensity levels, anti-slip handle, bright body stickers, long battery life

Philips Sonicare For Kids HX6311

Philips' advanced toothbrush, though not able to connect with third-party gadgets, nevertheless has a number of useful features that make it easier for children to join the process of daily oral hygiene.

A distinctive feature of the brush is the built-in timer. It automatically starts for two minutes, after which the device plays a melody. The presence of a timer allows you to teach children to take their time and makes the process of caring for their teeth more efficient.

The body of the toothbrush is large. But it should not slip out of the hands — a strong fixation is ensured thanks to the rubberized coating of the handle. You can also put interchangeable nozzles on the handle with a variety of stickers that attract the attention of the baby.

The brush handles with its main duties with a bang — it effectively removes plaque and prevents the appearance of caries. At the same time, for younger children (from 4 to 7 years old), a separate, more delicate cleaning regimen is provided.

In a separate line, it is necessary to highlight the long-term battery life of the toothbrush — one charge of the built-in battery lasts for two weeks of daily use. The charging process does not take much time, and the power supply unit from adult models of the Philips Sonicare series can act as a charger.

Smartwatch VTech Kidizoom Smartwatch

Colour touch screen, 50 dials, photo and video camera, 10 alarm melodies, voice recorder with special effects, educational games
No parental controls, inconvenient power button

Smartwatch VTech Kidizoom Smartwatch

Children's "smart" watches from VTech saw the light of day six months earlier than the most popular colleague for adults — Apple Watch. And it is worth saying that the brainchild of the Hong Kong manufacturer deserves high praise.

The smartwatch is made in a square form factor and has 4 colour options: blue, green, pink and white. The manufacturer claims that the wearable gadget is intended for children aged 5 to 12 years. But given the broadest functionality of the device, older children can also wear it.

First of all, the watch is good because it does not require connection to a smartphone or tablet — the gadget lives an independent life and connects to a PC only when photos and video files need to be transferred to the computer. Do not be surprised, just on the body of the device there was a place for a 0.3-megapixel camera, which takes photos at a resolution of 640x480 pixels and writes videos at a resolution of 320x240 pixels. Photos can be processed directly on the watch screen — a pre-installed photo editor programme is designed for this purpose. Built-in storage for data storage has a capacity of 128 MB.

The screen with a diagonal of 1.4 "is touch-sensitive. I am glad that it is possible to fine-tune its brightness, as well as adjust the volume of the built-in speaker. The latter is designed for an alarm clock that has as many as 10 different melodies. Hong Kong engineers also did not stint on a wide variety of watch interfaces (analogue and digital dials, there are 50 different designs) and a stopwatch (5 styles to choose from).

The maximum positive feedback is collected by the built-in voice recorder, which records the sound and provides overlaying special effects on top of it. Thus, from ordinary speech, you can get, for example, a funny cartoon. And if this is not enough, then a trio of educational games have taken refuge on board the watch: for memorization, logic and the development of the child's motor skills.

Parents also like the watch — not every gadget can accommodate so many useful functions in a compact bottle. Only the absence of any parental control causes complaints from adults. For example, locking the clock in the position of the dial, so that the child is not distracted in the classroom at school or classes in circles.

Safe sound transmission, ears remain open and hear ambient sounds, unusual sound, long battery life, one-piece body
There is no size adjustment, at high volume the music is heard by others, vibration can cause discomfort

AfterShokz Bluez 2

Athletes are the main audience for AfterShokz bone conduction headphones. And thanks to the unusual sound and slight vibration in the process of playing music, the gadget is very popular with children.

The main advantage of headphones is that the sound is transmitted to the inner ear through the vibrations of the skull and does not affect the most sensitive auditory organ, i.e. eardrum. Plus, the ears remain open and hear the surrounding reality. Therefore, headphones are also highly valued by cyclists and young parents — and the music is heard, and not a single sound will pass by.

In terms of sound, the headphones cannot boast of outstanding bass or mids, but the tops are reproduced by them without problems. You will have to get used to the sound, because when it is transmitted through the bones of the skull, some distortion occurs. But do not worry about the dangers of listening to music at maximum volume — due to the nature of sound transmission, headphones are simply unable to harm the hearing organs. High volume can only interfere with those around you — due to the lack of soundproofing of the speakers, they will listen to tracks along with the owner of the gadget.

And the headphones feel great as a wireless headset. You just need to be prepared for the fact that on the street the device will attract the incomprehensible glances of the public — people will sincerely wonder how you hear the interlocutor if your ears remain free. The headset connects to a mobile phone via a Bluetooth connection and picks up a signal within a radius of 10 m from it.

One of the design features of the gadget is its solidity. On the one hand, this is very good, since the whole structure consists of one element. On the other hand, the headphones have only one size and for comfortable wearing on a small head, you will have to use the reducer pad that comes with the kit.

Wide screen viewing angles, shockproof shell for children, free access to children's content, parental control
Poor performance, no automatic brightness control, no option to turn off ads

Amazon Kindle Fire HD 6 8 GB

The 6-inch Amazon Kindle Fire HD 6 tablet is available in two versions — regular and Kids Edition. There are no differences between them in terms of hardware, but the children's version of the tablet has a slightly expanded arsenal of functions.

The filling of the gadget is represented by a 4-core MediaTek MT8135 processor (2 cores at 1.5 GHz and 2 cores at 1.2 GHz) and 1 GB of RAM. Such hardware will not break performance records, but it will provide a comfortable launch of medium-sized games (such as Angry Birds) and educational programs in full — during the AnTuTu synthetic test, the tablet earned about 30K points.

The screen of the tablet has a resolution of 1280x800 pixels, which with a 6-inch diagonal gives a pixel density level of 252ppi — the individual dots that make up the image will not be evident. Therefore, the display is convenient to use as a reader, because even a small font will not cut the eye. And thanks to the wide viewing angles of the IPS-matrix, children will not have to fight for a place at the screen when watching cartoons — the picture will be visible from almost any angle. That's just the display brightness will have to be set manually, since it is not equipped with an automatic adjustment sensor.

The operating system is represented by Amazon 's own Fire OS shell, which is rolled over Android 4.4. Its nice features are free access to children's content and a parental control function, with which you can disable the ability to make in-app purchases, adjust the time you use your tablet, or set access to games after completing certain tasks in educational programs. Unfortunately, there is no way to turn off ad blocks.

The children's version of the tablet is additionally equipped with a bright shockproof shell, which, paired with Gorilla Glass, will protect the gadget from damage during falls. One charge of the built-in battery is enough for watching 8 hours of video or 3 hours of gaming, which is a very good indicator of battery life.

Excellent graphics, versatility, Kinect sensor included, the ability to connect external drives, comfortable and responsive gamepad
External modules of the power supply and Kinect sensor, the gamepad is battery-operated, the set-top box cannot be placed vertically

Microsoft Xbox One 500GB

The Xbox One console saw the light of day at sunset in 2013. Since then, it has not lost its relevance — sales statistics show 18 million sold copies of the game console manufactured by Microsoft.

The prefix consists of three components: a small black box with hardware, a Kinect sensor and an external power supply. The central unit contains hardware (8-core AMD processor, 8 GB of RAM, a 500 GB drive and a graphics processor, which is an analogue of the Radeon HD 7000 series graphics card), a Blu-Ray drive, as well as all kinds of interfaces for connecting devices. In terms of graphical characteristics, Xbox One loses a little to its main competitor in the face of Sony PlayStation 4 . What it lacks in GPU power, it makes up for in reduced resolution in some games.

The brainchild of Microsoft has a remarkable potential — in addition to games, the console is capable of performing a number of other tasks. In fact, it is a multifunctional multimedia centre with which you can chat via Skype, surf the Internet or watch your favorite movies. By the way, the console supports the connection of an audio system up to 7.1.

The set comes with headphones, a gamepad and, as mentioned above, a Kinect sensor. The last two accessories boast high sensitivity and responsiveness in control. The gamepad sticks are additionally rubberized for a more comfortable grip, and the triggers are equipped with vibration motors that allow you to get a clear response in active gaming scenes. The manipulator is powered by two AA batteries.

In 2015, an improved version of the set-top box was announced, called Microsoft Xbox One Elite . Its main differences from its younger brother lie in support for 4K resolution, increased storage capacity (1 TB) and a new custom Xbox Elite game controller.
