The guys at Behringer have always loved to borrow other people's ideas and synths are no exception. In 2016, they announced the DeepMind 6 synthesizer, behind the redesigned facade of which one could easily see the classics in the face of the Roland Juno-106. According to the head of the company Uli Behringer, DeepMind is not a copy of Juno, but a love letter to him. On a well-known foundation, Behringer engineers aimed to build something more modern, but at the same time true to the original. The result is a rather interesting 37-key hybrid with 6-voice polyphony and advanced modulation capabilities that even hardcore Juno-106 owners respect.

Speaking of the love letter, Uli was not disingenuous, DeepMind really got better in almost every aspect. Thanks to additional modulators, the arsenal of available timbres has significantly expanded. On the central panel appeared LED-display to control the synthesizer. For additional control, you can connect a smartphone or tablet running iOS or Android to DeepMind. And the famous Juno-106 chorus is no longer the only star of the evening. DeepMind 6 has a whole block of thirty-three DSP effects manufactured by TC Electronics, Midas and Klark Teknik. Moreover, these are not just choruses, reverbs, delays and compressors, but emulations of classic iron like Lexicon 480, EMT250 and Fairchild 670. Indeed, I did it as if for myself. Switching 2.0

Naturally, the switching has also been improved. MIDI ports and sync in DeepMind 6 are in keeping with the zeitgeist, and for additional connectivity, a USB output and several CV connectors have appeared on the rear panel. Against the background of the Juno-106, only the quality of the keyboard let us down. The network periodically complains that some samples have a slightly different keystroke force. Nobody likes to screw up on stage, so experienced keyboardists keep begging Roland to re-release the original Juno-106. However, such complaints are not so common and, as you have already understood, they concern only very demanding musicians.
