Mobile printers have existed before. We have already seen all this: small size, battery, color printing, wireless interfaces. But never before has it been assembled in one compact device that produces such high-quality photo prints. In general, I was very pleasantly surprised and pleased with the printer. Of course, it’s better not to think about the cost of printing, but the very possibility of getting a full-fledged photograph in any environment in a very short time is truly unique. Weight up to 900 grams and overall dimensions of 18x14 centimeters, with a thickness of about 6 cm. At first glance, when folded, it looks like anything but a full-fledged and full-color printer. Printers aren't that small. But when you lay it out in its working position, then everything immediately falls into place. Appears and paper trays and a small intelligent 2.7-inch screen to manage the printer and view photos. Works via USB or WiFi. It can also print directly from SDHC, SDXC and similar memory cards, which is also useful. With iPhone 6 through AirPrint prints without any questions. The quality of the prints is excellent, let the resolution of 300 dpi not scare you, everything is OK with the picture. A 10x15 photo prints in about a minute or a little less. I was upset when I found out that the package does not include a battery. Well, mine, how is it??? Can you imagine a mobile phone that comes with a charger but no battery? And I can't, but the swindlers from Canon can. Not only does the printer itself cost almost five mowers, cartridges for a mower apiece, but also buy the battery separately. In short, I had to order, they drove it for more than a week, this pleasure cost 1550 UAH. |
It is difficult to suspect a full-fledged photo printer in the compact Canon SELPHY CR1200 model. Nevertheless, it is such, although it prints pictures in a maximum size of 10x15 cm.
Portability
The printer takes up minimal space when folded and only slightly expands in size due to the slide-out photo paper tray when ready to go. Glossy plastic prevails in the body materials of the model — not the most practical material in terms of actively collecting scratches, but at the same time emphasizing the attractive appearance of the printer. Buttons for setting print options and a 2.7-inch colour display are located on the top panel of the device.
Printing methods
The screen put into service of the model serves not only to visualize the settings menu, but also to view photos when they are printed from flash drives, the connection of which is implemented via a USB port or a built-in card reader. In addition , the Canon SELPHY CR1200 supports over-the-air printing — the Wi-Fi module on board allows you to send photos directly from your smartphone to the print queue. However when using the wireless method, for some reason, the user does not have access to photo editing functions before printing, while in the case of external drives, you can crop the image and apply basic filters to it (improving facial skin, removing red eyes, etc.).
Thermal sublimation
Getting colour prints is carried out according to the method of thermal sublimation — a cartridge with a film is installed inside the printer, the ink in which is enough for a clearly specified number of prints (36 pcs. when using the KP108 cartridge). The paint is applied to photographic paper in three successive steps, which takes less than one minute in time. A protective coating is applied over the finished image, the degree of roughness of which is selected in the settings menu.
Prerogative
Having bought a battery as an additional accessory to the model, it becomes possible to use the printer offline, printing pictures on the go. The charge of the additional battery is enough for printing about 50 colour prints. The printer is not suitable only for working with documents, but this is not required of him. The prerogative of the model is printing small format pictures for a home photo album.
