The manufacturer produces very good memory cards, USB drives and computer peripherals. In 2019, the company surprised with the HyperX QuadCast microphone, which managed to receive a lot of positive feedback from streamers and podcasters in a short time.
Beautiful and functional design
The microphone pleases with its appearance: the black metal case of a cylindrical shape is illuminated in red when turned on — it looks impressive, especially in the evening, but it also has a minus — the backlight cannot be turned off. But recording is easy. To do this, at the top of the case there is a touch button with a crossed-out microphone icon.
The universal adapter allows you to install the device on a microphone stand or tripod. The kit also comes with an anti-shock suspension “spider”, which saves the capsule from unwanted vibrations. Connection to a computer and other devices is implemented using a 3-metre detachable USB cable.
Extensive recording options
In the microphone, you can change the directivity pattern. The choice of 4 possible modes (stereo, omnidirectional, cardioid, bidirectional) is carried out by turning the knob on the case under the grille. This setup requires some skill, but allows you to get almost flawless recording quality. The ability to adjust the sensitivity of the microphone is also pleasing, for this there is a regulator with a visual scale in the lower part.
A headphone jack allows you to control the sound volume and delay level, while a built-in pop filter increases the clarity and intelligibility of the recording.
HyperX QuadCast is a real find for both beginners and more experienced gamers, streamers, and video and audio content creators. With ample features, it is quite affordable for the price (about $170), which made it popular.
Of course, it doesn’t fully reach professional solutions, but you need to understand that to properly dive into sound, you need an audio interface, $100, a good microphone, $50-100, and a small pile of expenses on cables, possible amplifiers, and more. The sound will be amazing, that's a fact. Is it worth investing in? Yes, if you benefit from it. And if you’re a beginner YouTuber, blogger, or streamer, you won't find anything better than the Quadcast. If you want to fiddle with sound settings and clean tracks, you can try Fifine.
You can set it for unidirectional recording, for conversation or streams so that the microphone only records from the front; bidirectional, when using the microphone in a podcast with two participants and placing the microphone between them; and omnidirectional, when the microphone records everything around, from any side, and also in stereo mode where the microphone separately records the left and right channels.
A very cool feature is the touch "Mute" button, just touch it and the microphone doesn't record. Much better than mechanical buttons. It’s also very cool that the microphone immediately comes with a "spider" mount.
