Cross-platform wireless gamepad from MSI, which supports connection to desktop PCs, laptops and smartphones. The model belongs to the upper price segment, boasts high quality workmanship and is designed for experienced gamers who are looking for a high-end alternative to controllers from Microsoft and Sony. MSI Force GC30 V2 develops the ideas of the original model and is ahead of it in many ways.
Unlike the first version, the stick potentiometers have been completely redesigned, and made more sensitive (recognize up to 256 degrees of pressure), the LEDs have become brighter, the vibration motors work less clumsily, and a replaceable nozzle for the D-Pad has been included in the package. Well, the gamepad itself was repainted from black to white, which only benefited it.
The device does not require complex installation - just connect it via Bluetooth or USB cable and you can start playing. The manufacturer guarantees full compatibility with personal computers and laptops based on Windows, as well as with most smartphones based on the Android operating system. Built-in battery provides up to 8 hours of battery life. If it runs out, you can connect and play via USB. To make life easier for gamers, a second shortened OTG cable for smartphones was added to the package.

First of all, it doesn't work via Bluetooth, but via Wi-Fi, so it connects to Android only by cable. Also, you can't connect it to a laptop without using a USB receiver. I have a couple of these, so I know what I'm talking about. Additionally, if there are many devices nearby connected with Wi-Fi 2.4 GHz (neighbor's routers, etc.), it may work unstably, which again proves that it works via Wi-Fi. It's not suitable for fighting games due to the cross-shaped design, as it doesn't have 4 separate buttons and "floats" like a D-Pad. If you want to play soccer, racing games, or other genres where precise D-pad positioning isn't needed, the gamepad is just great. Playing Rocket League is pure joy. We completed It Takes Two with my wife on them. They've both been in use for over a year now. No issues have appeared with the left stick, which many owners of the first version wrote about. Plus, they look very stylish. Appearance, vibration response, triggers, bumpers, sticks. Ergonomics is also present. Hands do not get tired after several hours. Crosspiece. Lack of connection possibility to PS. ![]() |
I bought it, went to Tekken 7 and was disappointed. If you need a standard joy, you need to take where a separate cross, for example DualShock or DualSense, or any other where the same cross. Beautiful. Immediately with Bluetooth adapter. And USB. Bad cross. Not suitable for fighting games at all. Very poorly registers clicks on the diagonals. It is impossible to press at least some combo where there is a combination in two directions at once (forward and down, etc.) ![]() |
Work on bugs
Almost a month ago, we conducted a test of wireless controllers for PC, one of the heroes of which was the debut Force GC30 gamepad from the Taiwanese brand MSI. Back then, we praised the build quality of the controller, the durable button switches, and the package, which includes multiple cables, interchangeable D-pads, and a wireless adapter. As a result, the Force GC30 left a pleasant impression, which was smeared with a short-lived left stick and a few whims when connected wirelessly. In the fall of 2021, MSI released the second revision of the Force GC30 and we could not ask if this time it got better.
Pair of interchangeable cables
But first, a few features. Conceptually, the second version of the Force GC30 completely copies its predecessor. It's an Xbox-style gamepad with diagonal sticks, perpendicular triggers, and keys that are labeled with Latin letters rather than numbers or geometric symbols. The controller can be used wirelessly or connected to a PC or smartphone using one of two cables (regular and OTG). The built-in battery lasts for 8 hours, which is slightly less than some of the famous competitors, but this is justified by a more affordable price. If for gamepads from Xbox and PlayStation at retail they ask for $60 – 70, MSI Force GC30 V2 can be found on the market one and a half times cheaper.
New design
So what has changed? First, the design has been updated. The old black gamepad was visually lost against the background of the monotonous black Chinese controllers, the new snow-white immediately attracts attention. And the LED charge indicator located in the very centre turned out to be more distinct. We also worked on reliability, making the potentiometers a little more sensitive and reliable. However, here you have to take MSI's word for it, because a week of tests is too short a time to draw global conclusions about durability. As before, they recognize up to 256 degrees of depression, the push-button switches have a service life of 2 million clicks (against a million from competitors), and the package includes replaceable cross pads with magnetic fasteners.
