Not a bad lens, bought second-hand for 25k RUB. In principle, if you get used to it, you can take excellent photos. I prefer to use it on full-frame (Nikon d700); it didn't quite work for me on crop sensors. I used it at car races and it performed quite well, and it also works well for small birds. It's better to turn off the stabilizer if you can take a photo without it. Great price on the secondary market, good liquidity. Very good sharpness, I think the new one will be better (but the price leaves it behind the old one). A weight of 1.2 kg is excellent for such a zoom. I wish the sharpness was a bit better, although if you stop down to 8 and there's enough light, then it's good. The stabilizer could be more stable. |
With 1500 u.e., you can either buy or look for a used one. The construction is good, and it's part of the professional series. Beyond that, it's all about skill and luck. I'll try to post a couple of pictures here - one taken with a wide-angle lens, with a red rectangle highlighting the area of the second shot, taken with a Nikkor 80-400 VR. The photo was taken handheld, through glass, with haze, FR 400 (600) mm from the 124th floor of skyscraper No. 1 Burj Khalifa in Dubai. Camera: Nikon D300. Good optical qualities, sharp throughout the entire range of focal lengths, a really working stabilizer (I didn’t expect to get clear photos at 400 mm (600 crop)) A bit pricey for an "aged" lens, somewhat heavy like many other lenses in this range. Autofocus is a bit slow, but you can get used to it. ![]() |

Short description:
Professional telephoto zoom lens with VR (Vibration Reduction) system. The VR system allows you to work with slow shutter speeds even when shooting handheld moving objects. The use of three elements of low dispersion glass (ED type) in the optical design minimizes chromatic aberration and allows you to get an image with high resolution and contrast over the entire range of focal lengths. The lens is perfect for sports, reportage and portrait shooting. The M/A mode allows you to quickly switch from auto to manual focus control, even in continuous focus mode. The lens has a metal mount.
