Nikon 180-600mm f/5.6-6.3 Z VR Nikkor (JMA720DA)

A large and heavy long-focus zoom lens for enthusiast photographers. The model is designed to work with full-frame mirrorless cameras of the Nikon Z system. However, it can also be used with cropped cameras that have this bayonet mount. The lens covers a long-range focal length span from 180 to 600 mm, making it a suitable solution for photographing skittish animals and birds, airplanes in the sky, elements of landscapes at a significant distance from the shooting location, and so on.

The lens has a mediocre aperture range of f/5.6 at the short end to f/6.3 at the telephoto position. Its shortcoming is compensated by the built-in optical image stabilization system, with a claimed effectiveness of up to 5.5 stops of shutter speed or exposure. The optical scheme of the Nikon 180-600mm f/5.6-6.3 Z VR Nikkor consists of 25 elements in 17 groups, with 6 lenses made of low-dispersion glass to effectively suppress chromatic aberrations. The zoom ring in the lens design has a relatively short throw (within 70°), allowing for quick responses to changing shooting scenes. The telephoto zoom comes with a tripod foot — the assembled model weighs over 2.1 kg. The lens is also compatible with Nikon TC-1.4x and TC-2.0x teleconverters (to extend the maximum focal length to 840 mm and 1200 mm, respectively).
