A winter model without studs for urban SUVs, crossovers and heavy-duty SUVs. The tire is designed for use in mild European winter conditions. It was released ahead of the 2023-2024 season. The rubber has a symmetrical directional tread pattern without pronounced circumferential drainage channels. The Nokian Snowproof 2 SUV 225/60 R17 99H water drainage system consists of diagonal grooves from the center to the shoulder areas, through which water, slush and melted snow are drained.
The model demonstrates effective transmission of traction and braking efforts, tenaciously holds onto slippery road surfaces thanks to a rubber compound with a high silica content and multiple 3D sipes in the tread blocks. Low rolling noise is achieved by adding a layer of acoustic foam to the inner tread layer (SilentDrive technology). Increased tread strength and sidewall reinforcement with aramid fibers help extend the tire's service life.

I bought it because I considered it low-noise. I liked the aggressive tread pattern. Reasonable price, made in Finland. When I picked it up at the transport company's warehouse, I couldn't find the "made in Finland" marking. Later, I found the factory marking in the city of Nokian IYL. Winters are mild, with light plus and light minus temperatures. Mostly asphalt conditions. That's why I chose Euro winter tires. Previously, with the Arctic type, I had problems with braking on wet asphalt at positive temperatures. With these tires, traction on dry and wet asphalt at light minus and light plus is excellent, just like summer tires in summer. It plows through fresh wet snow superbly. On ice, there's nothing outstanding, but I didn't expect anything either. No winter tire, even studded, will provide the same traction on ice as summer tires do in summer. Miracles don't happen; caution is required. The tire is stiff. Maybe because, in my size 235/65R17, only the load index 108 is available, while the factory spec is 104 with a pressure of 2.35. Kia Sorento 3, weight 1900 kg. Had to reduce the pressure to 2.15; the stiffness became more acceptable. Very noisy! And I bought it for being low-noise. It hums loudly on asphalt at any speed. In the city, it's manageable, but on the highway during long trips, it's tiring. I understand why it hums, looking at the open grooves for snow drainage. I don't understand how the EU label could be misleading. It's nowhere near 70 decibels or even 72. My summer tires are 70 dB—silence. aggressive tread pattern, confidence when driving on snow. Reasonable price. Fresh. Stiffness and noisiness. Clear non-compliance with the Euro label regarding noise. Maybe they measured the noise not on asphalt but on snow? By the end of the season, it seemed to me that the stiffness and noisiness were somewhat reduced. Maybe I just got used to it or maybe it broke in. ![]() |
