great model, love it
 26 September 2021
i chose between Philips GC4909 and Tefal FV9840 (both are about the same price). In the end, I chose Philips because of the reviews and ease of cleaning (decalc every 3 months). The most disturbing thing was the visibility of the water level (in one of the reviews I read that due to the dark case, the water level is almost invisible). It may not be as visible from a distance. The water tank is so big that you can fill the iron with a 0.33L water bottle. The iron heats up very quickly to the maximum (I have less than 1 minute, the instructions say that in 2 minutes). The quality of ironing is normal. Long cord 3 meters. The iron is equipped with the Eco function (reduced water and energy consumption). There are all the necessary functions: steam supply, vertical steaming, auto-off).
The inconvenience is the weight of the iron: 1.667 kg + 300 ml of water gives only about 2 kg, which requires more effort with longer use.

Premium iron with SteamGlide Elite soleplate

The stylish Philips Azur GC 4909 steam iron stands out for its exquisite design of an almost dark purple body with copper-coloured trim elements, as well as an arched back. The model belongs to the Azur premium product series and the solidity of the device, which weighs 1.67 kg, is immediately felt when you take it in your hands. But the iron is good not only for its respectable appearance, but also for its excellent functionality, which you will find only in advanced models. The 6-layer SteamGlide Elite outsole has a narrow toe and a rounded “nape” shape that glides smoothly over fabric in any direction. The constant steam supply makes gliding even easier, thanks to the fact that the iron moves as if on an “air cushion”.

Quick Calc system

The key to the success of the model was the high heating power of the build plate (3000 W) combined with impressive steam humidification. After connecting the power cord (3 m) to the mains socket, the iron will be ready for use in 2 minutes. The constant steam output is 55 g/min, and the steam boost in normal ironing and vertical steaming is 250 g/min. The battery life of steam generation is provided by a built-in water tank with a capacity of 300 mL. The drip-stop system prevents condensation from dripping onto the fabric when the iron has cooled down. The appliance has received an advanced system of quick descaling Quick Calc Release, which collects twice as much lime deposits in a special removable container. The security system will automatically turn off the device when left unattended. It is worth noting the presence of a special ECO mode, in which the device consumes less water and electricity.
