This gear is made of soft plastic, which either wears out or crumbles. It's almost impossible to buy it separately. i previously had a lower-power Kenwood chopper, but I realized that a single bowl and limited power weren't enough. You can't grind small quantities like one liver or garlic, one fruit, etc., in a big bowl. That's why I'm very satisfied with this purchase. I use it every day (I have two small kids). Also, I was choosing between the model with a slicer and this one, I decided on this model and opted to buy a food processor instead, and I didn't regret it (what could I slice with that...). For a family of 4, portions from one carrot are too small. You can't get everything you want from a single appliance... You need to choose based on your family's needs. You won't go wrong with that.
