It can be said that the history of Elgato began in 2002 with the emergence of the company Elgato Systems GmbH, founded by Markus Fest in Munich, Germany. The company's first product was the EyeTV external TV tuner, which became extremely popular, especially among Apple computer users. In 2010, it was decided to launch production of products under the Elgato brand, which was already described above. As for EyeTV, since 2016 this brand has been owned by Geniatech Europe GmbH, a German subsidiary of the Chinese company Shenzhen Geniatech Inc., Ltd.

In 2018, the Elgato brand was acquired by the famous American manufacturer of computer peripherals and components for gamers, Corsair Gaming. Today, the brand continues to develop as an important player in the field of devices and software for creating and broadcasting multimedia content, offering a variety of solutions for amateurs and professionals.

As for Elgato Systems, having sold its main brand, it focused entirely on smart home products under the Eve brand. As a result, the company changed its name to Eve Systems GmbH. Since 2023, they have been part of the Swedish-Swiss multinational corporation ABB Ltd., specializing in various digital technologies.
