— the ability to install SSD-drives connected according to the NVMe standard on the motherboard.This standard was developed in order to realize all the capabilities of the SSD (the speeds of earlier interfaces, like SATA, at one point were not enough for this). Hardware NVMe uses the M.2 connector (see "Connectors on the board"), and electrically — the PCI Express bus. Thus, NVMe compatibility means that the "motherboard" has at least one M.2 slot capable of operating in PCI-E mode. At the same time, we note that the number of lines, the PCI-E version and, accordingly, the connection speeds may be different, these nuances should be specified for each model separately.
