In the summer of 2021, the Chinese manufacturer Xiaomi released a fresh update to its flagship Mi Pad 5 tablets. The recipe for success is unchanged: for a relatively low cost, give users a top-end high-performance Snapdragon platform, a large colorful WQXGA screen with support for HDR and Dolby Vision, high-quality sound with support for Dolby Atmos, as well as a good long-lasting battery that will provide long operating time.

The updated line featured 2 versions of the tablet - the regular Mi Pad 5 and the slightly improved Mi Pad 5 Pro. The first is equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 860 processor, the second runs on the slightly more powerful Snapdragon 870. The amount of RAM in both cases is 6 GB, and the available storage capacity can be 128, 256 or 512 GB. Unfortunately, there are no slots for SIM cards and memory cards.

The tablets also differ in their communication capabilities: the Mi Pad 5 Pro can work with Wi-Fi 6, has more solid navigation capabilities (AGPS, GPS, GLONASS, compass), is equipped with a more advanced camera with two sensors, and inside its body there are 8 stereo speakers with support Dolby Atmos. The charger has a power of 67 W. In turn, the regular Mi Pad 5 supports Wi-Fi 5, it has 4 speakers, and the charging power is 33 W.

Considering the weak, almost non-existent competition in the tablet market and the total dominance of Apple, the update to the Mi Pad series could not have come at a better time, giving people the opportunity to purchase a truly serious Android tablet not from Samsung or Huawei.
