Canon has announced the launch of a new EX Speedlite series flash, the Speedlite 430EX II. This compact, high-power flash with a guide number of 43 (m/ISO 100 at 105mm) features a wide cone that provides sufficient coverage for wide-angle lenses up to 14mm focal length.
The Canon Speedlite 430EX II flash replaces the Speedlite 430EX. The novelty features fast and silent reloading, as well as full control through the menu of compatible EOS SLR cameras. The Speedlite 430EX II is perfect for hobbyists and professionals looking for a versatile flash with more functionality.
New features
The Speedlite 430EX II has a number of new features that greatly enhance ease of use and flexibility. The recycle time has been reduced by about 20%, and the recycle itself is silent so as not to disturb the creative concentration of the photographer. New metal mount with upgraded pins ensures a secure flash-to-camera connection; and for quick connection to the camera, a new mechanism for quick fixing and disconnecting is used
When used in manual mode, the Speedlite 430EX II allows precise exposure in 1/3-stop increments. In addition, when working with compatible EOS cameras, all Speedlite 430EX II settings can be configured from the camera's menu. This approach allows you to quickly and easily change the flash settings.

The novelty is fully compatible with the E-TTL II system, which takes into account the distance to the shooting object, which is equipped with modern EOS cameras. The slightest fluctuations in the power supply voltage and flash brightness may upset the white balance in the corresponding frames during continuous shooting. To compensate for this, automatic transmission of colour temperature information from the flash to the camera is provided. The resulting data is then used to optimize the white balance for each image. This function works with cameras that are in auto white balance or flash control mode.
