A strong player in the field of gaming monitors with a frame rate of 240 Hz. The model is based on a 24.5-inch TN+film (6-bit + FRC) matrix with FullHD resolution (1920x1080 pixels). The Dell AW2518HF claims a maximum screen brightness of 400 cd/m², a 1000:1 static contrast ratio, and a 1ms GtG response time. The smoothness of the displayed image is guarded by AMD FreeSync technology, which, in conjunction with Radeon video cards, automatically adapts the frame rate on the screen to the frame rate of the incoming signal. The monitor is connected via HDMI and Display Port ports, the model also has a 4-port USB 3.0 hub and an audio output for connecting headphones. The fulcrum for the monitor is a functional stand with support for adjusting the screen position both in height (within 13 cm) a...nd tilt (5 ° forward and 25 ° back).

The monitor is not for everyone. For gaming, this monitor is one of the best options.

I bought this model and want to share my opinion with others. I was very worried about the low quality of AU matrices. I took my laptop with me to the new post office and checked it thoroughly. Checking the TFT monitor with a test and also with fills showed that in my case everything is very good (no dead pixels, backlight uniformity is good, no jambs have been noticed yet). Over time, maybe something will change - I’ll post it. For comparison at home there is IPS, VA, and now this monitor is TN. I used to have a laptop with TN. I was pleasantly surprised that the viewing angles and colors on this model are comparable to VA and much better than I expected from it. TN on my previous laptop and TN on this monitor are heaven and earth, believe me. There is a film on the matrix (which very well removes any glare and reflections, and at the same time very well expands the range in which colors are not inverted), in the manual It seems like it is indicated that the coating also has scratch protection. Perhaps it has a crystalline effect, but I didn’t look closely and couldn’t figure out if I had it =) The fonts are beautiful, the pixels are very small. The main purpose of this monitor is games, mainly shooters. But watching videos on YouTube and surfing are also very comfortable. TNs have apparently made good progress in recent years. The kit includes an HDMI 2.0 cable, which carries 240Hz without problems, but there is no way to enable AMD Freesync mode.
I am the owner of a top-end Sony TV with a good camera, which very efficiently draws out the picture in dynamics due to the completion of frames and the insertion of black frames. (tests with a Japanese woman, ducks, etc. are like seeds for him) But believe me, the smoothness on this monitor is a little higher than on it! Artifacts have completely disappeared, the “oakiness” of the pointer has disappeared, you simply don’t feel the input lag. And now I understand that for games today this is a completely new level of comfort :)
The included port for charging devices (according to the manufacturer, it produces up to 2 A) is not suitable for charging (my copy, when connecting a phone, produces a current in the port of 1.47 A with a voltage drop to 4.72 V, which is unacceptable)
There is no real ULMB mode here (it is only available in the version with G-sync).
However, you can almost completely remove the Blur effect by lowering the brightness to 40% and contrast to 30%.
